Cosmetic Toggle

Well, ultimately that comes down to opinions then. As I could argue a toggle like this is good for the game. You think it would be a waste of resources. I personally don’t think it would be or would have a negative impact on sales.

I want halo infinite to succeed and I think the toggle I’ve suggested would help it along. No, it’s not priority #1 or even #10. But those big priorities are already obvious.

We gotta advocate for the stuff that’s smaller on the radar that matters to us.

Nope. It is more. It is detracting from many players experience while a toggle detracts from no one except the narcissistic players who want to force others to see their cosmetics knowing it doesn’t fit Halo.

That’s a huge stretch there. So now people paying real money towards self expression with the expectation that this is how their character will appear in-game, are narcissistic? LOL

The people who are saying stuff like “I want to look as obnoxious as possible” - yes.

Only those that want to force everyone they play with to see it while knowing it detracts from the experience for others.

This is just like saying their shouldn’t be a mute function because everyone should have to hear what you have to say each match.

Just shoot at them lol

You haven’t seen the bitter vitriol of some of the people arguing against a toggle have displayed even arguing that they NEED to be seen. These toggle topics get wild.

It’s hard to see the forest for the trees at that point.

Yeah, I’m sure every conversation goes to the extremes. But, boiled down, negating character customization in an online multiplayer game fueled by selling cosmetics, is going to be a very hard sell.

As I stated above, being against the toggle is the bigger offender to potential customization. Don’t be so anti 343 with your anti-toggle.

That’s just a troll comment though. :grinning:

Its a good point, you don’t have to like it

People who buy cosmetics. It isn’t like if everyone else gets a toggle they’ll suddenly be able to control themselves when something pops up they want.

The entire concept of a toggle that removes cosmetics that people bought (specifically to change how their character looks in an online multiplayer game) is 100% ridiculous. It will never happen. You and everybody else endlessly talking about this are just wasting your time. Me including because I’ve been trying to talk sense into your heads. Just forget about it. Or put this much effort into something that can actually happen. And that would actually benefit and foster the growth of Halo Infinite.

Thanks but no thanks.

Yeah that’s a no for me too, chief.

I’m appreciate the self awareness, understanding how silly it is to comment here complaining about us talking about it, while also… continuing the conversation?

A toggle would be a great step towards bridging a divide in the community between those who want Halo to follow the fortnite trend towards non-canon, non-military, cartoon or arcade style cosmetics, and those who would prefer to maintain the military science fiction aesthetic that has been core to Halo since 2001.

Can you honestly, truly tell me that if you knew a toggle existed and that some people would use it to avoid seeing kill effects, cat ears, and cyber mowhawks, you would actually stop yourself from buying cosmetics that you wanted, and would otherwise buy on impulse?

Simply the sad reality of humans with any amount of money at their immediate disposal.

Unrelated note, I found out that the word siimp is censored, while writing this reply. Interesting!

While I personally don’t care. I can do without armor effects and I use kill effects just easier means of kill confirmations. I do know people who spend loads of money on cosmetics in games and wouldn’t drop a dime in this game if this feature was added. They like to make Spartans their way to show who they are to others, and this would take that away from them. People with it on would only see them as generic Spartans and nothing more. It defeats the whole purpose to why they spend anything on cosmetics.

Since free 2 play is generally makes most of it’s revenue on selling cosmetics, turning off some of the biggest spenders to add this feature would be a huge financial hit if they implemented this feature. This is why I say 343i even considering this is rather silly based off how they designed this game. Are you guys willing to make up for the huge loss in revenue to implement this feature?

I’m still not entirely convinced those people have the conviction to stop purchasing cosmetics if a toggle was added.

I hear people make that argument in here sometimes, but I think it is just posturing. I would guess that while expressing themselves to others is a factor in customization, for many I would think that looking at it yourself was a huge factor? Of course, maybe that’s just me.

I just really doubt that there would be a measurable difference in cosmetic sales if a toggle was added.

Yet you want them to take a chance and risk killing the game? Are cat ears really worth all that, in a game all about simulating Spartans play-fighting with each other?

Thinking about this over a couple of days.

And the answer is yes.

Sorry, not the answer you wanted. And I’m not hugely attached to armours etc. But I do have disposable income at this stage of life.

And it’s a difficult question to answer because of the of the vagueness of “some”.

But if I’m going to spend ten bucks on a kill effect then you better be -Yoink!- sure that it plays everytime I kill someone. Which is not that often.

Maybe 343 could refund me a couple of points everytime it doesn’t play.
