Cosmetic Toggle

Because you’d still be able to see the armor you bought? You wouldn’t know if a stranger could see your armor or not.
Heck you don’t even know currently whether someone paid attention to your Spartan or not.

This is absolutely 1000% correct.

And we already have cat and bunny ears and Fallout Power armor (eagle strike core). While people may like these they are already a huge departure from the classic Halo art style. COD Warzone started off as a pretty realistic styled game and now they have goofy and ridiculous operators you can choose.

If they couldn’t stay true to the Halo art direction they should not have gone FTP. If 343 just wanted to make as much money as possible and thought FTP would get them there then we have every right to voice our disappointment. They can either listen to it or lose players.

Unlike most people we seem to be giving specific feedback before we just stop playing and if they chose not to listen to us who knows how much longer people will sit around and watch as 343 taints Halo with some of these armors. They already had to backtrack on the H4 and H5 art style because its not what we wanted. They promised a return to form in Infinite and thats why we expected it.

I think a toggle feature like that would negate the point of paying real money for cosmetic items. Which would be ultimately bad for Halo Infinite. And for what? Just to appease the taste of picky Halo players who aren’t buying stuff?

I would argue that it’s still adhering to the established Halo style. Regardless of cat ears, everybody still looks like a Spartan. It’s not like we have Wonder Womans and Thors running around. So until then, I think the concern is overblown.

Not all purchase cosmetics are non-canon or categorised as Fotus or 343 manufactured. Which is, kill effects and cat ears ect.

It’s pretty obvious what isn’t actually in the halo fiction. (Its already been categorised by 343 themselves) That’s all the toggle needs to disable.

We were all willing to pay $60 for the game. 343 chose to charge $60 just for the campaign then to make the MP FTP and also decided to add things in that change why many of us played Halo.

No one is playing Halo because they can buy goofy armors. But i guarantee many people have left due to the artistic direction changing. It feels and looks wierd in Halo to see someone with cat ears or bunny ears. It is jarring and when you just wanted a normal Halo gsme it is not a welcoming sight.

Anyone who is buying stuff solely for the thought of being stared at by strangers is in the minority.

I’ve never bought an in game cosmetic and have the first thought of being so desperate for attention that I constantly hoped other people would look at me.

I bought it because I wanted to see it on my own character.

If you’re buying stuff and you’re only constantly thinking about other people looking at you, you may want to look back at yourself-because thats odd. And sad frankly

The entire point of cosmetic items IS self expression. Self expression is literally all about our own unique quirks and traits, preferences, and styles shared with those around us. Especially when we are paying real money for just that.

Nice try but you are flat out wrong. (and you know it too)

In For Honor, they added a VFX toggle. A toggle that disabled cosmetics people could pay for. There was no massive upset in that community and customisation is a massive part of that game.

Also not to mention, it’s only small percentage of cosmetics that would be disabled regardless and kill effects and other effect types can cause performance issues and hurt sensitive eyes.

Stuff like fractures, cat ears and bunny ears are a type of expression that contradicts the fictional tone of Halo. An issue for those that care that’ll only get further exacerbated as time progresses.

A toggle like this is harmless, and is simply a quality of life feature. Most people against it will forget about it inside of a month, whilst those who want it will appreciate it forever.

I guarantee it.

I could see something in Accessibility for the armor effects that people may be visually sensitive too. But cat ears is just a silly preference not related to performance, accessibility, or really anything meaningful. What if I don’t like the color pink can I beg 343 for a ‘Remove Pink’ toggle?

The whole concept starts to get ridiculous fast.

I’ve honestly never been of the point of view that I’m so desperate to be stared at by a stranger that I’d be upset if my appearance was different to them. I’m sorry that you feel like you need attention that badly.

But it’s not just based on preference. 343 themselves have purposefully categorised a variety of cosmetics as either Fotus or 343 Manufactured.

343 Manufactured is usually stuff like Hcs skins, obviously not canon. Fotus is bunny ears, cat ears and holographic Mohawks. Obviously not canon. Just like Fractures.

Whatever 343 decides is on either side of the toggle based on their own categorisation, I’ll accept.

If your going to make such a bold statement you better have some evidence that actually supports it. Other wise you’d do better to not open your mouth in the first place.

Since it’s impossible to tell what the “majority” actually want, we know you pulled that straight out of your -Yoink!- too. A select few people on these forums doesn’t consist of the majority of the player base.

If its just silly cat or bunny ears where do you stop in that direction? Should we have tails, wings, other game colabs? How about animated camos? It gets crazy going the other direction real fast.

Halo had a bubble. Anything in that bubble fit Halo. Now you have popped that bubble and have no argument against the craziest armors because “who cares its just silly ______”.

That would be just creating unnecessary work for very little return. Likely less money in 343’s pocket. Which we all should know, would be bad for the future of Halo Infinite. The whole point besides self expression is to support game development going forward. So you gotta weigh how much do I hate cat ears VS how much do I want Halo Infinite to succeed? Think the answer is an obvious one.

I already addressed this point. People care a lot about a continuous art direction. Thats why Infinite is closer to Halo’s classic art style than H4’s or H5s.

People complained rightfully so and now we are having to do it again because 343 hasn’t learned their lesson.

Again not a single person is playing Halo because they can buy cat ears but people have left and will leave if the series they love becomes unrecognizable due to silly/cute armors that don’t fit Halos tone are added. It takes you out of playing Halo and makes you think you are playing a cheap cash grab.

I don’t know who you think you are offending, or if you really even believe what you are saying. Sounds like you don’t understand humans lol. And honestly nobody is getting attention based on their spartan. C’mon it’s just self expression that directly supports the future of Halo. Nothing more, nothing less.

Using the same logic though, if a toggle were to be implemented then 343 could feel free to go even crazier with the customization with far less blowback.

Look at MCC’s customization. Its getting wild. But thats fine. Why? Because people don’t have to see it if they don’t want to.

If 343 put a toggle into Infinite, then they could open the floodgates for all sorts of crazy stuff and I’d be fine with that. People that would want that stuff could go crazy and spend all of their money. I wouldn’t care.

I’d go as far as to say that a toggle would give more options for 343 to make money off of crazy customization.

Saying you don’t want a toggle is hurting 343 financially.
