Another agreement here. I never liked the goofy stuff, even looking back at hayabusa and armour effects. It just breaks the immersion. And the recent things in Infinite and MCC are on a whole new level of ridiculous.
I don’t wanna feel like I’m in a Nickelodeon show, or Narnia. I don’t even wanna feel like I’m in a game. I wanna be in the world of Halo.
Hyabusa at least tried to still fit the artstyle, and was somewhat justifiable as being the armor likely worn by the most canonically dubious spartan in the lore, Nicole-458.
However that said, I feel like most of 343’s attempts just took the worst parts of Reach’s implementation, and went straight for “Rule of Cool” as a means to print money from the gullible.
Idk, the only way I can see Hayabusa make sense is if the canonical designer based it on on one of their son’s/daughter’s drawings or something. I mean it’s got hair, and is literally based on a character from another videogame.
At least the helmet, the rest of the armour looks fine.
But I agree with the rest of what you’re saying.
Thats no hair: https://deadoralive.fandom.com/wiki/Ryu_Hayabusa
Hayabusa was actually a pretty well done cross-promotional item, Nicole-458 was the other half for DoA4 (hilariously she was just straight up Master Chiefs Halo 2 model ported to another game)
Don’t know where the whole “it has hair” argument started, I think it might have been the increase in anime mods elsewhere the last few years, but its always a favorite of people on both sides of the armor toggle debate as a weird justification for either point when its the greatest example of neither.
It doesn’t have literal hair ofc, but it looks like hair imo.
No need for another thread on this.
