Cosmetic kits, Body Types, and Balancing Combat Changes That Need To Be Made

My GF and I are big on ranked, and we’ve always loved to customize our Spartans to stand out from others, I know that they are working on this battle pass/store issues. But we want to be able to mix and match different pieces for from amour kits. I was disappointed when I brought one of the esports kits for the black and gold armour coating to go with the Anubis helmet to make my spartan look the god of the underworld, and I feel like I’ve been cheated in a way.

My GF Is disappointed with the feminine body type and all the body types for that matter they aren’t distinct from one another, this is a big deal for her as in all the games she plays, she tries to make her character look as feminine as possible, and we both agree that feminine body isn’t that distinct from the masculine one, they look near enough the same. We were both talking, and Halo Reach was the game where the feminine body type was done right.

With our ranked view of the game and multiplayer combat in general, we believe that the two main problems are melee and grenades. Firstly, the Melee; inconsistent it either does little to no damage or too much, I’ve been killed at full shield being hit from the front, I’ve also hit players myself when I can see they have shields still when they glow red, meaning that they will break if they take any more damage, I’ve punched and killed them, this should break the shield not break it and kill the player. To my knowledge, it was never like this in any of the other Halo games, can’t comment on Halo 5 though I sat that one out for obvious reasons.

The second main combat issue is the grenades, the ones in question the fragmentation and the shock both by far do too much damage and need a tone down, with frags the explosion seem to do a fixed amount of damage no matter where you are in relation to impact, in older games you would die if you were on top of the frag and take reduced damage the further away you are from it, but in infinite I’ve been killed at the edge of a radius from a frag at full shields and died, It has also still been hit round corners and behind walls from the radius. The same goes for the shock grenade too also the tracking on it feel really cheap, you could give it the same effect that plasma grenade dose.

in conclusion, for combat balance These to these two balancing issues, the Halo multiplay has devolved into a grenade spam and fist fight in most matches. Don’t get me wrong people grenade spammed in the other halo games, but it was a tactical choice, and it had consequences in casual play as you, you could team kill, now in casual everyone runs into a room the whole team throws grenades and melee, and they don’t harm teammates. I think implementing these changes and bringing back TKing in casual and not having just in ranked will improve the game and keep your core player base of older halo fans.

My partner and I would love to see these changes, as huge Halo fans we want the game to do succeed and do well.

id like to have Kat and Georges body types and more i want around 12 different body types and playable elites maybe even playable robots more the merrier

You could do that if the allowed you to customize the armour kits that you get in the battle pass, for example I wanted to use Emile’s shoulder pads with and wear my ODST helmet at the same time but you cant

armor cores should be a base to work off with your customisation with all armor and colors being universal

Agree, like is said I brought the black and gold esports skin to go with the Anubis helmet, but you can’t use it, as it’s an armour kit, but you can view the coating on any setup up very misleading

One of the things I think could help with grenade spam is friendly fire. People are less quick to spam grenades in ranked (they still do it) because they can hurt teammates. Also, I don’t want to have to guess if that grenade someone threw is gonna kill me or just wiggle me around.

Totally agree with the melee. I think the biggest problem with it is that player collision still doesn’t work quite right for enemies. I know it’s “enabled” but that doesn’t mean it’s working properly.

I agree with you on the body types. I want to have a cute Spartan I can identify as mine, but I dare not say too much. Ears everywhere. Some of them don’t like us talking about it.

when people bring up that different hit box argument i just say “does every target have to be the same ?” its not like im asking for a playable grunt i wanna look like George if that makes my box bigger so be it thats my choice.

Yeah, agreed, I mentioned a that there should be TKing in casual.

Everyone can still have the same, and hit box is bigger than you think, the problem with the hitboxes is that they’ve been clipping through one another in melee fights. That why sometimes I’ve been at full shields been punch from my POV in the face, but the hit box is going through me hitting me in the back, kill me instantly. Even though 343 said they’ve put collision on, still doesn’t mean it works

100% player collison needs fixing, i cant see griffball working in infinite id love to see assassinations come back

I completely agree with the feminine body type options. Sadly I don’t think Jorge’s body could work as he’s taller. The broadness could work though.
As for assassinations I can see them being added as another way to monetise this game.
As for other topics in this thread. Player collision should always be on and so should team killing as it’ll help put a stop to grenade spams and rockets near teammates etc. Just bring back the boot option after say 2-3 team kills.

Multiplayer Spartans body types are all dudes. The helmets just have an optional voice changer lmao. Hopefully more body types get added, but that seems unlikely now.

Wouldn’t the taller body/hitbox mean that people who chose that model were at a disadvantage? I’m okay with giving people an optional disadvantage. If they think it’s worth it for the look, why not let them have a setback?

It’s one of those things where it’s a lot more than a hitbox I’m guessing, like animations and sitting in vehicles looking funny etc. Not just that, you’ll still get people complaining that they can’t look the way they want without the disadvantage, and if this is the case, they’d probably make females smaller which would be an advantage. Personally I’d be happy with 3-4 options. Thin/regular, top heavy, bottom heavy, heavy all around. Not fat but wider and thicker etc. Does this make sense? XD
