My GF and I are big on ranked, and we’ve always loved to customize our Spartans to stand out from others, I know that they are working on this battle pass/store issues. But we want to be able to mix and match different pieces for from amour kits. I was disappointed when I brought one of the esports kits for the black and gold armour coating to go with the Anubis helmet to make my spartan look the god of the underworld, and I feel like I’ve been cheated in a way.
My GF Is disappointed with the feminine body type and all the body types for that matter they aren’t distinct from one another, this is a big deal for her as in all the games she plays, she tries to make her character look as feminine as possible, and we both agree that feminine body isn’t that distinct from the masculine one, they look near enough the same. We were both talking, and Halo Reach was the game where the feminine body type was done right.
With our ranked view of the game and multiplayer combat in general, we believe that the two main problems are melee and grenades. Firstly, the Melee; inconsistent it either does little to no damage or too much, I’ve been killed at full shield being hit from the front, I’ve also hit players myself when I can see they have shields still when they glow red, meaning that they will break if they take any more damage, I’ve punched and killed them, this should break the shield not break it and kill the player. To my knowledge, it was never like this in any of the other Halo games, can’t comment on Halo 5 though I sat that one out for obvious reasons.
The second main combat issue is the grenades, the ones in question the fragmentation and the shock both by far do too much damage and need a tone down, with frags the explosion seem to do a fixed amount of damage no matter where you are in relation to impact, in older games you would die if you were on top of the frag and take reduced damage the further away you are from it, but in infinite I’ve been killed at the edge of a radius from a frag at full shields and died, It has also still been hit round corners and behind walls from the radius. The same goes for the shock grenade too also the tracking on it feel really cheap, you could give it the same effect that plasma grenade dose.
in conclusion, for combat balance These to these two balancing issues, the Halo multiplay has devolved into a grenade spam and fist fight in most matches. Don’t get me wrong people grenade spammed in the other halo games, but it was a tactical choice, and it had consequences in casual play as you, you could team kill, now in casual everyone runs into a room the whole team throws grenades and melee, and they don’t harm teammates. I think implementing these changes and bringing back TKing in casual and not having just in ranked will improve the game and keep your core player base of older halo fans.
