Cortana's visions

I don’t know if it have been officially explained, however I was wondering about the vision about Cortana in the mission Blue Team. I thought there could be a Guardian near the Argent Moon, but then I realized that we’ve seen yet visions about Cortana in Halo 3. In Halo Evolutions O’Connor said that Cortana was sending signals trough the galaxy to manage to contact Chief, this could explain what have happened in Halo 5: Guardians.

Am I wrong?

I think she was using the Domain to contact Chief in 5, but I’m not entirely sure.

Yeah it’s been speculated that when the librarian unlocked Chiefs genesong one of the things unlocked was the ability to access the domain. The forerunners could access it much like what happens to John in the distant past, and since Cortana is now in the domain it would make sense that that’s how she contacted him.

Yeah. That makes sense.

I believe 343i has stated it was the Domain she was using.

That just begs the question though of when exactly the Domain resumed functionality. She had about eight months to contact Chief, so either she held off on that purposefully or because she couldn’t. Yet one of the Intel found on Genesis hints at Cortana fixing the Domain. It’s all pretty confusing.

I know! Also they keep calling it “the forerunner domain” which isn’t even right at all! The domain wasn’t made by the forerunners, it was just used by them. And yeah, I found it very confusing that the halos were supposed to have destroyed the domain, yet Cortana finds it still active, and it even “cures” her. WTF!?

Factor in the fact that Reed has said the Didact got supercomposed and that he wasn’t stored with the rest of the composed essences but still exists and we’ll likely get a reveal that our favorite Disco-Dracula was birthed into the Domain as well. Which could explain a lot.

Actually he said he wasn’t composed.

The Halos most likely destroyed the Organon the Precursor tech the Domain was wrapped in. This is proven by the unknown builder when he says the Organon was destroyed and the domain was burning.

Yeah, what’s up with that anyway? The comic clearly shows the Didact has been composed, yet Reed flat out contradicts what he wrote by stating he wasn’t. The hell happened to him if that’s the case?

its a joke cortana its perfect !

I think reed forgot that the Diadact had performed a mutation on himself that left him immune to the composer while writing that story and then had to backtrack…

Wait wut? I’m sorry I’m catching up on my lore, when did Reed say this? I’m not arguing I’m honestly just asking.

I’ve been still clinging to a shred of hope that we’re not done with the Didact and that he’ll reappear in H6, perhaps even revealed as controlling or impersonating Cortana - but I’ve been assuming he’s “still” composed. If he’s dead, stick a fork in that idea, I guess.

He’s not dead, I don’t think. I guess he was immune to composure, but being hit by multiple composers overrode that? Hell I don’t know, here lately you can’t really count on anybody staying dead due to certain writing staff members… cough cortana cough I’m calling it now, halo6 ends with a last second save by… Sgt. Johnson!

Still, if Halo 5’s messages can be explained through the Domain, then how the hell was the stuff from Halo 3 possible?

“Messages through the galaxy”? Franky’ll have to do better than that.

I think the messages from halo3 were from the gravemind. How he did it I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure he was sending Chief visions of Cortana’s torture at his “hands”.

He said that in the additional material of the Escalation Library Edition, if I remember correctly.

sigh If the Didact is really dead and not composed, there goes my last hope for how they were going to save this story arc without ruining Cortana’s legacy. I was hoping she was him in disguise. So, Cortana really is who she appears to be, I’ll never be able to replay the old games again without knowing she had it in her to become a supervillain capable of killing millions, and we’re not subtle or nuanced enough to understand any of this. Beautiful.

And of course this was all planned from the beginning, that’s why we spent three books building up the Chief’s new archnemesis only to kill him off in Operation Offscreen after his first last and only game.

Actually, he says diadact is still out there, here’s the exact quote;
“In Halo 4, we explicitly state the Composer has no effect on Didact, or Chief for that matter – thanks Librarian. What we see here isn’t a standard Composer usage by any stretch of the imagination. This is six plus composers detonating all at once, their energy expelled in an uncontrolled manner. He’s not “Composed” in the traditional sense because there is nothing there to process him. What he is, well, what he is is a surprise. But he’s out there. He’s alive. We’ll see him again.
The question is, did they abandon this concept like they did almost everything else pre-halo5, or is there more going on that we don’t know about yet?
