Hello. I just wanted to know if Cortana is an AI created with forerunner technology or human technology.

Where do people keep getting this idea that Cortana was created with Forerunner technology?
Cortana was created human technology, using the cloned brain of Dr. Catherine Halsey. Cortana is certainly the most advanced AI ever created at her time. No Forerunner technology was used in her creation.
Actually, she was created with some help from Forerunner technology.
She wasn’t created from it, but the discovery that ONI had to protect with the help of Noble team gave the Humans the technology knowledge to create a more advanced AI that can peruse Forerunner constructs and computers (as seen in Halo: CE where she stops Master Chief from activating the Index)

Nope. There was no Forerunner tech involved in the creation of Cortana. The only things that made her special were the brain she was made from and the software suites she contained.

The reason she can interact with Forerunner tech was due the information gleamed from the Reach Forerunner artifact. Cortana was also created in 2549, before the Forerunner artifact was discovered.
In association with a Forerunner finding that Doctor Halsy worked on whilst being protected by Noble team.
I don’t want to ask whether you’ve played Halo: Reach or not because it’s a pretty obvious giveaway that Cortana learned a thing or two from the Forerunner construct that ONI had kept secret.

I have played it, and while Cortana gleamed an understanding of Forerunner systems from the artifact, there was no Forerunner tech involved in her creation. She is a pure human construct.

And that is where the confusion lies, I’m guessing some think Cortana was made by using the Reach Forerunner artifict.

What are you talking about? Cortana was created in 2549, 2 years before Halo Reach is set. Neither the Forerunner artifact at Reach nor any Forerunner tech was involved in her creation. None at all.

I seriously don’t think a highly sensitive, heavy, and glowing pod gleamed from the Forerunner artifact on Reach holds just information. If it was just information, why would it need to be in such a heavy pod, and display Cortana’s avatar on a holo-panel in the cutscene?
Reach confirms that the pod Noble Six gave to Keyes was half of Cortana with built-in Forerunner technology that was installed to the other half of her aboard the Autumn. Hence, Cortana is made up of Forerunner technology.

Or Cortana was stored in the pod along with the Forerunner information.
Halsey’s journal already says how Cortana was made, man.

Where did you get this? All Cortana got from the artifact was an understanding of Forerunner technology. This, in combination with the data gleamed from the Sigma Octanus IV artifact lead Cortana and the Crew of the Pillar of Autumn to Halo.
Just because she interacted with a Forerunner artifact doesn’t mean she’s suddenly part Forerunner. She got a Rosetta Stone of sorts, that’s all. As far as her creation goes, there was no involvement with any sort of Forerunner technology.
Cortana was definitely not built with any forerunner tech.
But correct me if I am wrong, she was programmed with some of the best cracking/hacking software there was. I believe it was for operation red flag her needing to help the spartans any way she could. This would be the reason behind why she can intergrate so well with forerunner tech.

You are correct, Cortana had the best military software suites available to mankind.
Cortana was made the same way as other Smart AIs. No Forerunner tech involved in her creation.
She was activated on November 7, 2549.

Under normal circumstances, the brain donor for an AI construct is dead, but Halsey’s brain was flash cloned for the procedure. Twenty flash cloned brains were created, but only one survived; the survivor was used to create Cortana. The neural pathways of the cloned brain were scanned and copied through a process called Cognitive Impression Modeling.

That’s it. No Forerunner tech went into her creation. What we see in Halo: Reach has nothing to do with her creation, it assists in her discovery of Installation 04 and her knowledge of Forerunner technology. That’s it.

Yes, it’s a fragment. The true Cortana is on board the Pillar of Autumn
