so, i think that in halo 4 cortana WILL go rampant but she would NOT die, rampancy is the third stage of an AI’s life, but, there is a fourth stage called metastabibility, which only medecint bias and cortana will go through, metastabibility is where an AI might become a ‘real’ person, another thing is that she might become an AI god and not become a ‘real’ person, she might live for a VERY long time which she will still go through rampancy, but she will complete the stage eventually, the medicent bias was made by the forerunners and is an AI, and he/she became and fought with the gravemind against the forerunners in the 3 century-long forerunner-flood war, though cortana might have a different situation and will become against the master chief and will soon bypass it and become a real person, or an AI god.
tell me what YOU guys think about it, i have spent a VERY VERY VERY long time of research to make sure this info is as accurate as possible.

I always thought she wasn’t going to die because Requiem is a Forerunner treasure trove; something has to be there to save her. however, I totally forgot about the fourth stage. that actually sounds much more likely to happen.

why i think she didnt go through metastabiblity yet is because rampancy is the third stage of an AI’s life, and metastabibility is fourth, so i thought that she will go through metastabibility in late halo 4 or early halo 5 (since halo 5 and 6 are confirmed)

i mean, medicent bias went through rampancy, THEN metastabibilty and he/she are also an AI, but he soon got defeated by the forerunners because he helped the gravemind, but he got killed by the offensive bias, cortana might not suffer the same fate

so, another thing that supports my theory is that cortana was made of the cloned brain of Dr. Catherine Halsey, this means that she isnt like anyother AI, think about it, she is made of the cloned brain of a human, and metastabibility has two ways…

i think that ‘thing’ at the e3 2012 halo 4 gameplay trailer is the didact because his ship was described as big and egg-like, and cortana said quote "we know where HES heading " if u noticed, cortana said HE IS heading not IT’S heading, so that makes me think that thats the didact’s new ship, and the front of the ship looks like the didact’s sign
She’ll become the Meta hahahaha just playin i know they cant kill her because she is like super important to the Halo Universe.
I think, being in so much contact with Forerunner tech it might prolong her life, just some food for thought / speculation.
On another note if Cortana dies before the end of H6 I will go into a rampancy…UNFRIGGINBELIEVABLE

I completely understood what you said and I completely agree! Cortana cant die because she is one of the main characters, even more so maybe than MC. And in real life, I think she has a contract with 343i (Like probably another 3 years for the rest of the games)
