Do you think Halsey will be able to fix Cortana? Or do you think they will have to devise another way to save her? Or do you think they will go the guttsier route and let her die in Halo 4?
sigh the composer.

I’m going to revel in my naivete for a moment and honestly hope they don’t go that route. They’ve been playing up her rampancy and the part it will play quite a bit, for them to take a deus ex machina like that (though I am aware of what The Composer is, and what it does canonwise)and go “Boop! Now you’re better than ever!” would be an cheap cop out and a huge disappointment.
Now if they were to end the game on that note, and deal with it in Halo 5, I’d be a little less against it.

there is always the possibility of metastability, after all Cortana is not just a garden variety of AI
Death is her cure.

Thanks “A Hero Awakens - Part 1”'s Script!
Biggest spoiler ever. Of all time.
> sigh the composer.
You do realize that to those who have only played the games - not read the fiction etc, the composer will mean absolutely nothing.
The composer itself feels like a half–Yoinked!- shoe-in for ‘deus ex’ anyway
I think itd be good if they used the Composer-- BUT, maybe it turns out things wont be so simple.
Maybe the Composer breaks mid-process, and she’ll only be a physical being for a short time, leading them to find another option?
Or better yet, thatd be the only time shed ever have a body, and she’d be content now, knowing what “touch” is like.
TBH …SHE’S A -Yoink!- AI THAT CAN EASILY BE RECREATED WITH THE SAME MEMORIES AND FEELINGS!

Maybe they will have to use Precursor tech to heal her!
I don’t want to see her die. Next to Halsey, she might be the 2nd best character in the Halo universe. I’m hoping that between the good doc who I think might have access to the domain, and Forunner technology Cotana will be around for a VERY long time. Think MB.
Also Halsey MIGHT have the Librarian’s Geas and since Cortana is built from HAlsey’s clone there’s no telling the possibilities that opens up.
i will be VERY unhappy if they find a way to save her or bring her to life or something.
the best thing any fiction can do is give an ending that isn’t happy.
Look at Halo 3. Chief and Cortana abandoned and alone. If they had gotten through the portal and had all their medals and stuff, the series would feel cheap.
Death is a part of life, and an adult fiction should focus on that and make loss of a loved one something that is a vital part of the series.
imagine the end of Halo 5 being Cortana’s death and Halo 6, the final game, shows a broken, unstable cheif fighting for his own humanity as well as survival.
Long post short;
Fairytale endings can ruin a good series.
SHE’S A FREAKING AI, SHE CAN BE BROUGHT BACK!
I would be interesting to see how a ‘metastability’ outcome would work.

Yeah… I’ve read a few of the books. But I have no idea who the composer is, so that wasn’t even a possibility to me. I do want to read the books sooner or later though, they sound amazing. And apparently they awnser a lot of the canon questions that I’ve asked after playing the games. The books I have read is like the Fall of Reach, and another though I don’t remember its name.

I had the idea that it would be cool if it played out like that too. Though that trailer suggested to me that chief was going to find a way even if it killed him. And wouldn’t that be a story if he let people die in order to desperately save her, only to fail. And then he’d not only be broken, unstable fighting for his own humanity and survival. But also guilt stricken and out for redemption. Only to go out in a blaze of glory at the end of Halo 6! That’d make me sad to see him die, but man would it be a way to end it all.

That’s not how Halo AI’s work. They are as unique as a human being, and cannot be copied without severe degradation. Even if they were to just clone Halsey’s brain again and create a new AI, it would not be Cortana.
Drugs is always the right way for any problem that needs to be solved, right? oh, wait it’s not. well that’s a shame. ignore this post.
I think Cortana will die off in Halo 4 but somehow will come back in either Halo 5 or 6. That is yet to be found out.
