Okay, in Halo: CE[A], Cortana is blue when she is meant to be purple. Why is that? Near the end of Halo: Reach, you’ll see Cortana and she is purple, why wasn’t she purple in Halo: CE[A]? I know this is just a little thing, but I was curious as to why it is like this.
Because they used a modified Halo 3 model.
Nothing more to it than that.
//=================
I’m not sure why we’re getting such specific aesthetic questions anyhow. CE and CEA look VERY different from each other in tons of respects.
> Because they used a modified Halo 3 model.
Correct, Cortana can change to what ever she wants to as far as I know, that’s the canon explanation to the different ways she looks in all the Halo games, she decided to be blue for CEA

Still, she was purple in CE, so she should have been purple in CEA. Also, I preferred the way she looked in CE, from the facial features, to the colour.

You could always switch to Classic mode.

Indeed I could. But I would of liked to see it in the “re-mastered” version.
> You could always switch to Classic mode.
Except that:
1-People didn’t buy the game just to play it in classic mode.
2-Classic mode looks atrocious in many respects compared with CE, and also doesn’t have access to the classic sound layer that fits so nicely with those visuals. If you’re just going to play in classic mode, it’s arguably much preferable to just use the original game.
Telling people to forgive CEA for the features they purchased it for just because they have an alternative (that is, an inferior version of something they quite possibly already own) strikes me as a bit ridiculous.

Hold on, let me go and take this information to 343 Industries and tell them it.
They used the Halo 3 Model for the sake of time constraints and making her look familiar to new and old players, if they went off and used some new model, it would be confusing for first time and maybe even older players.

It wouldn’t be confusing at all if it somewhat resembled the original model.

Which the Halo 3 model does perfectly, most of the models in CEA are just Reach/Halo 3 Models.

I believe I have a fairly rigourous basis for claiming that many fans think otherwise. Like, observing the case of the OP and a ton of other people who have made similar comments.
> most of the models in CEA are just Reach/Halo 3 Models.
Yes. Which is exactly what the OP is complaining about, and which is also exactly what undermines your claim that the CEA model resembles the original one. Almost all Halo fans acknowledge that Cortana’s appearance have changed a LOT between games.

I personally don’t see the issue, the model itself is fine, as long as you can recognise it is Cortana, its ok, Anniversary’s Remastered mode shows off what CE would have looked like if it was made and released in this day & age, with the Halo 3 model, it lives up to that.
> I personally don’t see the issue, the model itself is fine, as long as you can recognise it is Cortana, its ok,
Nonsense. There’s way more to aesthetics than mere object recognition. Why do you think some people are complaining about things like the lighting and colour schemes, and the Halo’s prongs? Because it made them confused as to what the objects were supposed to be?

I’m still not getting it, they promised a remastered game of CEA, they delivered it, they never promised anything other than that, if you wanted specific things, you should have made your voice heard during the games production stages, so much community feedback went into models and weapon design.
> I’m still not getting it, they promised a remastered game of CEA, they delivered it,
Not everyone agrees with the artistic direction of the remaster, both in terms of how stylistically faithful and how well-executed it was. The fact that they shipped a remastered version doesn’t mean that it’s good and free from criticism.
> if you wanted specific things, you should have made your voice heard during the games production stages, so much community feedback went into models and weapon design.
What makes you think people didn’t complain about the sorts of things we’re discussing now during the game’s development? HBO especially was a hive of these kinds of systematic concerns even in early June.

Little Moa thanks for saying what I’ve been thinking reading this post. I had no idea people felt so strongly about this. Okay so Cortana started out purple in the Pillar of Autumn, and turned green in the control room, then back to purple for the round trip. In halo 2 she is a slightly lighter shade of purple, she changes. I never thought ‘wtf is this? why is she changing colour all the time?’ Maybe it has to do with her moods, maybe she likes to mix things up by changing her colours from time to time (lol). I don’t know, but reading these posts, people arguing at how it was unnecessary to make these subtle changes I don’t see the logic.
You know I didn’t buy Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary BECAUSE it had nice graphics, I wanted it because 1: it had achievements, 2: I could play it on a wide screen tv instead of an old 17 inch fuzzy monitor, and 3: the graphics come in last place. I loved playing it, I played it over before it came out, and after it came out I still played the original on my PC. I don’t rage because fine details were changed, they make no difference in how I percieve the game. And to new players it shouldn’t make them wonder ‘why is she a different colour?’, no instead just play the game and don’t delve so deeply into the why’s and why not’s of what the dev team was going through.
I am going through the game first with suped up graphics, taking in the full details, while I set it to classic mode when I want. They could have just re-released it for the xbox 360 and that would have been fine. I like, no I LOVE the new rich graphics, the terminals, the hunt for skulls. Not EVERYTHING has to be the same as the original. They could rerelease halo 2 for the 360 with no rich graphics and I’d still fork over 60 bucks to have a copy that looked right. Playing the one made for the original xbox has issues. Back to combat evolved - I see no problems with it and can only congratulate the development team for a job well done.
I think people tend to set their expectations too high. I don’t expect anything because I give it nary a thought. When it comes out I’ll buy it and I’ll have fun, it’s not MY GAME, it wasn’t MY IDEA, so I’m not going to gripe about something I have no control over. Just accept it as it comes.
