We all saw the gameplay demo and trailer from last week. Surprisingly, Cortana makes no appearance or even mentioned. The focus is on the Banished and the leader on Zeta Halo, Escharum. However, we do know Cortana will be present, due to the ending of last year’s trailer and that hidden audio of her. We also see Chief has an AI chip that says WEAPON CONTAINMENT DEVICE, with the serial number CTN 0453-0. Hidden said in a q&a with members of 343 that Cortana isn’t present early on in the Campaign. This makes me wonder what Cortana’s role in Infinite’s gonna be. It’s important to remember that Infinite isn’t just a single game, but a platform that 343 are gonna release content on over the next 10 years. However, even if she doesn’t play a massive role in this launch Campaign, we do know at least she’ll be present in some capacity. Others have made this comparison and I tend to agree with them, that we’ll be fighting the Banished for a good chunk of the Campaign, and then about maybe halfway or a little over, Cortana and the Created arrive. Then the fight for Zeta Halo becomes a 3-way battle. It’s also been said that this Campaign is the end of the Reclaimer Saga as well as the jumping off point for a new era in Halo. I wonder if Cortana is destroyed by the end of this Campaign or she continues on into future Campaigns. What’d you think will be going on with Cortana in Infinite?
Halo has pretty much been all over the place in recent years. After Halo 5’s bizzare twist of fate of a campaign and Halo Bad Blood solidifying Cortana as an antagonist now, I don’t want to see John be paired up with “another Cortana,” would be too awkward for me. I am curious about the Created’s role (if they having any) since they weren’t mentioned in any Halo Infinite content and supposedly the campaign demo supposedly takes place halfway into the game’s storyline.
