Cortana Revived In Halo 5

This is just a thought tell me what you guys think was Halo 4 Cortanas last Halo or not?

I’d like to think it was, Cortana’s death was very well handled in Halo 4. That being said, there are other ways she could return…

Totally against it. I’m all for Chief thinking he sees her as a hallucination, of which there is plenty of precedence to work with. But reviving her after killing in in one game? Way too soon.

I think she will, and possibly at the end of halo 6, as a spartan.

I have a feeling that she’ll return. Her revival should be handled extremely carefully by 343 though. No plotholes, no cheesiness, no retcons.

You could mark that one as necessary to break if they revive her.

Maybe.

Cobra And I always fought over this…I am all in favor of her immediate return…or her return in the very end of halo 5 priming us for halo 6

…How?

I still don’t exactly see the point of bringing her back. I’d rather they focus on developing Chief and Blue Team (if they are in Halo 5 as I hope they are), which has LONG been overdue in the games, delve into Mendicant Bias and focus more on the galaxy at large. Cortana can be in the back of Chief’s mind, but I really don’t want to spend most of the game “rescusing the princess” so to speak. Cortana was HAPPY that she saved Chief even if it cost her her life. Let her rest in peace and have Chief move on past his grief like a normal human being he is supposed to be working to become.

I would want that she returned, but not now, more before when chief thinks that is everything lost

Does doctor Halsey have a daughter? Maybe there will be a twist reveal where Cortana’s AI was actually based off of Halsey’s daughter and not Halsey. Then maybe we will see John and human-cortana hold hands and make dreamy eyes at each other. Oh so adorable!

Commander Miranda Keyes was the daughter of Captain Jacob Keyes and Dr. Catherine Halsey. She was killed by the Prophet of Truth in the H3 level “The Covenant”…

Certainly not, bringing her back would void pretty much everything that happened between Chief and Cortana in Halo 4. When characters die they stay dead, bringing her back would cheapen her death; Chief needs to deal with it like any other human. The only reason people want her back is because she’s special to us, but we’re gonna have to deal with it just like Chief.

There is no way she isn’t coming back at some point, but it may not be the next game. I mean, it could be, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we had to wait a bit.

Good for you cobra but I could care less right now about blue team and world rather spend the game trying to rescue the princess. You may think it boring…I think think the opposite.

Uhhhhhh…when characters die they stay dead? Halo 2 Johnson says hi…

And how do you propose for that to happen? Just saying “I want Cortana to be revived.” is not enough of a reason.

Because considering everything we know about rampancy in human-made AIs, as well as the fact her chip was destroyed, and then her remaining data being obliterated by a nuke, as well as being confirmed as being dead in multiple canon materials…it’s simply not possible.

There’s nothing left of Cortana to revive, and there’s nothing left for her add to the narrative that can’t be accomplished by other characters that are still alive (new and old). As an AI she had to die once her expiration date was reached, and she did so in a meaningful way. She used her rampancy to stop the Didact and her remaining power to save the Chief’s life, said her goodbyes, and went out on her own terms at the end of ‘Halo 4’ - her acceptance of her own “mortality” at the end of the game and her sacrificing herself brought her closure. That’s a lot more than most characters in this franchise have gotten when being killed off. Now we can explore the Chief more as an individual and see him develop alongside and interact with other characters.

Johnson was never seen being killed or confirmed dead in ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ - and the Legendary ending has long since been confirmed as being non-canon. The book ‘First Strike’ explains exactly how Johnson got off the Halo.

Cortana on the other hand was seen being obilterated and her avatar faded away - and has been confimred as being dead in no uncertain terms in every piece of canon materal since ‘Halo 4’ was released.

So basically you want to reduce Cortana to simply an object that constantly needs rescuing? Played out damsel in distress tropes FTW! That is just recycling Halo 3’s plot again.
