Cortana rampancy question...

For now, I’m going to put aside everything that has been done to speed up her insanity, and just leave it as she was 4 at the end of Halo 3. Now, I think it was First Strike where she said even a few seconds of an AI doing nothing seems like an eternity. At the time of Halo 4, it has been months, even years since Halo 3, and all Cortana has been doing is thinking. Don’t you think that would speed up her rampancy exponentially? This would make it so that the game does not necessarily have to take place 3 years after Halo 3, as she would have gone insane long before then.

But what if she didn’t. She’s a strong AI. Halo origins, which I know is not “official canon”, takes place when she is 7 if I remember correctly. If they decide to stick to this then she will be at least 7 in halo 4. Also note that not all AI go “insane” during rampancy. Some of them become like a real person. I think in the origins video when she walks off of the Holo pad and wipes the cryotube is a display of how she views herself. I hope they don’t take the other route and make her an enemy, I would be a little hurt.

The entire time they’ve been floating through space, she’s just been thinking. Her thoughts, more than likely, eventually wandered to her own existence. If 343 makes her fine, I want a good explanation.

Frank O’ officially stated that Halo 4 takes place less than a year from the events of Halo 3.

Also, I think that Cortana will be rampant in the first part of the game, she will effect your player somehow or she will just yell a lot and disagree with the chief. Yet I think that the chief will get her some sort of transplant or more memory using the forunner technology.

She won’t be fine, she’ll be an AI with human emotions. This isn’t exactly a usual circumstance and it will cause some peculiar situations. And like I said she is a strong AI. I’ll use for example her confrontation with the gravemind. She defended herself against something that appeared to have “killed” many AI. She endured his attacks and came out pretty solid. I don’t think her rampancy has been accelerated, it was happening in the time allotted regardless

He’s got a good point…

Link or it didn’t happen.

Whatever the effects, I’m really interested in seeing how her rampancy plays into the story of Halo 4.
