Spartan Ops showed that a Promethean Knight had memories of a person living in New Phoenix, (City?) where the composer hit Earth. Now, we know that the composer was just activated minutes after John-117 detonated the Havok Nuke.
So how could memories from that person sent to Requiem, even though the ship was nowhere near Requiem?
It could be possible that the Didact’s Ship is connected somehow(insert Forerunner Tech here) to Requiem. If it is, then it is possible that Forerunner Information Technology has a protocol that ensures that a part, most if not all information, in the ship is backup/sent to a secure place(like Requiem then).
Then, the question remains is that if it is possible then why didn’t Cortana try and contact Infinity 6 months after?
also when we look down to where the Didact fell, we see the destination of the composer light (composed humans?). I am not sure what that is yet but it looks like a portal of some sort(maybe a connection to Requiem). If it is then perhaps Cortana is really gone. Sorry to waste your time
The Composer was activated for several minutes before the nuke went off. That would have given Cortana enough time to send herself off to the Composer’s Abyss on Installation 3. Here’s a quote from Halo 4:
“Most of me is down there. I only held enough back to get you off the ship.”
Why would Cortana say that? It seems like she sounds like she has teleported herself. I have my doubts on the Halo 4 ending, like what part of Cortana is “most of me”. Because all of Cortana’s memories and personality and ability to make hardlight shield was with John, not in the explosion or transported.
If Cortana had teleported to the Composer’s Abyss, she would probably go dormant and shut herself off so rampancy wouldn’t take much of an effect. That would mean she would be stored in the same place the Didact was composed to, along with the people of New Phoenix. If the Didact still had control of his Prometheans as a digital form, that would mean he has control of Cortana.

Nice theory.
Dosent matter, requiem exploded
Requiem flew into its sun and Gamma Halo went walkies. Plus I don’t know if an AI could be composed, I only say this because I think it might be the only way she could have made it back to requiem.

So have many other Forerunner artifacts, yet tricky AI’s have a knack of surviving.
Not saying it’s the case, just that there are loopholes, and that it is not absolute. How many times was spark “destroyed”? Yet he’s floating around in the Rubicon now.

Cortana wouldn’t have been sent to Requiem, she would have been sent to Installation 3, which is where the souls go before they are turned to Prometheans.

Indeed…where Ivanoff station is. I never said she was on Requiem…just pointing out that there are loopholes that were left open that can lead to a number of outcomes, and that we have seen AI “destroyed” before, only to see them return in some shape or form.
As everybody else on this thread has said, Cortana would be more likely end up at Installation 03 than at Requiem. She could be in just about any Forerunner system on the ring. I’d guess that she’d end up wherever the essences of the people composed at New Phoenix would be. Cortana, being as clever as she is, could probably transfer herself into some sort of Forerunner AI matrix, probably the same as the device in Spartan Ops, “The Didact’s Gift”. She could use this to cure her rampancy, since she could expand much more in a Foreunner Matrix than she could in a human-made one. This is all my badly explained theory, though, and I don’t think she’s actually dead. What would be really cool is seeing her control Promethean bodies, and being a bad@$$ Promethean Cortana that would help in missions. I think that’s enough thinking for one day.

She said that because most of her data was in the ship that was obliterated and she only had enough of her functionality to get Chief off the ship. Do you not find it strange how the area Chief was in looked exactly like the bridge he was one before the nuke went off and that when it dissipated she vanished as well? What was left of her was connected to the hardlight bubble that shielded Chief.
Wasn’t the Librarian able to confiscate Cortana from Chief on Requiem??? Isn’t it possible she could have done it after the composers wreckage???
I have a feeling 343 is going to find some loophole to bring her back for whatever reason.

She moved her chip from one dataport to another, but there is no evidence to suggest she is in possession of Cortana or a copy of her. That and the Librarian was stuck on Requiem and could not intervene on the Mantle’s Approach. Yeah, a loophole could be fashioned, but 343 are better planners than that.
