Cortana on Xbox One

Now I know that the title is a bit confusing because of Halo, but I’m talking about the voice assistant that is on Windows Phones. For those of you who have an Xbox One with a Kinect you have without a doubt faced issues with the voice controls. Cortana is the new virtual assistant on Windows Phones, and in a recent interview it was stated that Cortana could come to Xbox One in the future. This would be much better than the existing voice controls, as it supports natural speech.

What I’m hoping for is the ability to say things like, “Xbox, play Halo.” and instead of nothing happening it would bring up a menu or ask you what one you wanted to play.

This would be huge.

clears throat

I shall now proceed with an old reply that will no doubt be recognized by many Xbox users.

Cortana is a Windows Phone exclusive, and she always has been. Windows Phone needs exclusive features; it isn’t faring well against the competition, and if Cortana gets ported to Xbox One, she won’t be an exclusive any more. Cortana will sell Windows Phones, but if she gets moved to other platforms, there’s no incentive for people to buy Windows Phones. If Xbox One gamers get Cortana, they’ll expect to get every feature Windows Phone does.
OK, wounded PC gamer rant over;)

In all honesty, I would be thrilled for Xbox One users to get to enjoy Cortana as well. She’s been really great on my phone, and would make an excellent addition to Xbox One.

Sounds good to me. That’d literally be every Halo fans dream.

I would love that actually. I have really liked using the service since it launched on my phone.
