Hey everyone. So I’ve been watching videos of Halo 5: Guardians gameplay (since I haven’t gotten the Xbox One yet) and it seems to me Cortana is the games, “New Villan”. So is Cortana REALLY evil now, and if so, why??? I didn’t fully understand her plan that she was talking about when John went AWOL to find her.
I can’t really say. I have an Xbox One and I played the campaign…but sorry, I won’t spoil you anything so you’ll just have to wait…I don’t really like to spoil a plot.
Cortana believes that the created (AIs like herself) should own the mantle of responsibility, which is all the hyper-advanced technology the forerunners left behind. She wants to use the mantle to bring peace throughout the galaxy and end universal problems such as crime and hunger. That’s all I’m willing to share for now, if you want to know more you’ll have to either play the campaign or watch someone else play it.
Cortana looks like she has put on weight in Halo 5 with those birthing hips.
honestly i dont know how to answer this but in halo 5 guardians she apparently is

I wouldn’t call her exactly “Evil”. I would call her as an obsessive psychopathic villain XD
I will never believe she is evil, she is just possessed!
No, she is not evil. The best way to put it is that her plans may not revolve around preserving human life, but life in general.
i bet she will later understand what shes doing is wrong and somehow die trying to fix it. Atleast im hoping they dont go that way
This is the way I think of it: She feels her plan is best for all the species to live and be perfect or something like that… and to me, it kinda has a Hiltler/-Yoink!- vibe to it. I mean the Nazis thought their plan would make humanity better as a whole as well…
When she talks sometimes, especially in The Breaking and Guardians, she still has that Rampant glitchy voice effect from Halo 4, that Governor Sloan has in this game. I’d say she’s still corrupted and rampant, though she was cured from the “death” part.
She technically is in that she is killing off billions of people without really batting an eye. 343 gave that dodge response a while ago. 'What makes you say she is evil?" Evil people never know that they are evil.

I agree with that reasoning. I really, really hope they can salvage Cortana. I think Halo 6 may want to invent time travel and undue her supreme being role
She’s not herself, remember when she was inserted into the Halo Array? All that info she got? She was a little maddening, now imagine her being in the entire Forerunner collection of info.
frankly I don’t think its actually Cortana at work here.
I just hope she will die in H6 , Im gettin tired of her ( she death in H4 and it was good )
it’s too late for her to die imo. she’s already died once, the 2nd time won’t have nearly the same impact.
Evil is very subjective. What could be seen as evil from one viewpoint can not be seen as evil from another. In her eyes she could be doing exactly what the galaxy needs but in others she wants to become a dictator
shes 50/50 i cant really tell just yet
I don’t think she’s evil. I think she’s just lost. A lost hero. Confused.
