quick question, should Cortana be immideatley brought back into Halo:5?
-In my opinion they shouldn’t rush it.I think that in all of the previous Halo games and specially in Halo 4,Cortana was a big attention hogger…in Halo:5 they should focus more on John and his story and a little we might not know about his past on other colonies that we once called home.
Here we go. Beware of the Cobra.
Of course her resurrection shouldn’t be rushed (assuming she will return at all). John still needs to struggle without her for a while. Like maybe talking to her, forgetting that she’s not there, or hearing her voice in his head.
Then she can come back and they live happily ever after with cyborg babies.
If Blue comes back, I won’t miss Cortana too badly. I’m sure she’ll pop up in his head (Halo 3 style) but Chief will be fine. He’s a big boy.
> Here we go. Beware of the Cobra.
Should I go get the antipoison or do we just run away?
OT: I don’t want Cortana to come back. It would render the ending of Halo 4 meaningless.
She died, you can’t magically return from the dead
> She died, you can’t magically return from the dead
She can SCIENTIFICALLY return from the dead.
Her death was probably the most emotional thing to happen in Halo to date. I could feel the tears welling up he first time I saw that.
If she was brought back, just for the hell of it, that’d be kind of cheap.
I’d accept it though if it was a while after and Chief was looking for Cortana’s original solution the Flood.
But only after Chief desperately searches for her. We need more emotion!

And how would that happen?
- She was nuked
- If the Librarian AI made a backup where could she have been stored? the Domain was destroyed
Then I highly doubt Halsey would be willing to clone her brain again
Then Halo 4’s ending would be ruined

I’ve heard some great theories.
In any case, I couldn’t care less if she returns or not. I just don’t think her resurrection would ruin Halo 4’s ending.
Have you seen X-Men: The Last Stand? We thought Jean had died in the previous movie. Scott was heartbroken, depressed, and quite possibly insane. He was suffering without her. Then we find out that Jean is still alive. Her “revival” didn’t cheapen the movie or ruin the previous film’ sending at all. Especially since Jean came back all psycho and murderous.
Cortana was John’s humanity. With her gone, he’ll need to find it by himself- what it means to be human. That means he’ll have to begin making decisions, it means he will be faced with dilemmas (Halsey, ONI…) and it means John and his internal struggle as he grieves will take center stage in Halo 4 along with whatever evolving set of events happen and place him in these situations.
Let’s not talk about bringing Cortana back, though. We have other threads for that, and repeating the same things over and over again is a pointless afair.

I would love to counter your argument, but I won’t.
She died and was buried in that pet cemetary over yonder, down by the old crawford place she is.

It’s most likely a matter of perspective. But my opinion is that Cortana’s return wouldn’t ruin anything, as long as John still struggles without her for a while. But I couldn’t care less if she returns or not; she was never that great a character to me.
I should stop voting in polls when I’m using a tablet. I just voted for the wrong thing.

Haha! Exactly.
You can’t magically return from the dead, but when you’re a video game character who’s an AI and not a living being, then magic doesn’t really come into the equation.

As I said earlier, explain how she come back then

Let’s pretend that there isn’t any way she could back that you wouldn’t find acceptable, but 343 bring her back in a way which you think makes no sense at all; would it require magic? Or would it just be 343 brining her back in a way which you don’t agree with.
It’s science fiction, magic isn’t required.

So that’s who voted Cortana!

Bringing Cortana back would be a mistke in my eyes. Not only would it destroy the neding of Halo 4 but amke it feel useless to have her die in the first place. It would feel like 343i just tired to pull out tears and want a HOORAY moment for Halo. Her being dead gives MC more character. I feel like her being around made dev neglect him.
