So how can cortana say in the beginning of halo 3 campaign that she watched john as he became a spartan (it also says she chose him in the books)when she is in a container in halo reach? BTW i think its cool how you can see master chief in the pillar of autmn on reach.But still she was just created by Halsey it doesnt make sense.
The part of her in the container was just a fragment, an update to the full Cortana with data on the Forerunner artifact.
Also, Cortana was created from the clone of Halsey’s brain, so depending on what the Gravemind did to her, that could have an effect.
As stated above, what most people don’t know, is that Cortana is ACTUALLY an AI version of Dr. Halsey, So, everything Halsey witnessed is what Cortana also witness.

I don’t know, I just take the lore of Reach with a pitch of salt. If something doesn’t add up with Fall of Reach then I don’t consider it canon.
She chose Master Chief because he was lucky. Bloom made too many of Noble 6’s shots miss, so Cortana dumped him in favor of the closest Spartan.
