I heard rumors that cortana is going to be killed off in HALO. I hope this is not true but if it is I seriously would not like the path that 343 is taking with this. Like the master chief , cortana has been a character that we have grown to love throughout the years. Killing cortana off to me wouldn’t feel completely like a HALO game without her. I never heard of cortana having a life span during other past HALO games either. So this is new news to me. I really hope she stays with the master chief until the very last HALO franchise.
I have a feeling chief is far more likely to be killed of than her. it would make sense. i hope neither die, killing of protagonists is extremely over rated and a protagonist needs to earn their rest for once.

I highly doubt Cortana will “die” in Halo 4.
But she is going rampant. Canonically, the UNSC would force her to be decomissioned as soon as possible.
But like you said, she is a vital character for both the story and the Chief himself.
Perhaps something miraculous will happen, like Cortana reaches the rare metastability and techincally survives rampancy, or they find something that helps keep her alive. The Composer, for example, is able to make live creatures into AI type constructs, so it is theorized that it would be able to use Forerunner technology to increase Cortana’s lifespan in some way.

Im pretty sure we all know that…but maybe we ll find a way to save her…? She is after all based on forerunner tech and Requiem obviously covered in it, also humanity has made many advancements based on Forerunner / Human tech since the end of the human-covy war which may aid saving her.
Cortana is extremely advanced, and being made out of forerunner tech, i’m sure there will be some way of saving her or at least prolonging her life span. 343i is smart, they wouldnt risk killing off such an important character.
I could see it happening in Halo 6. But Halo 4? Nah, that’s too early for the new trilogy. She has too much of a history and too much fan support to be killed off in the start of the new trilogy.
She’ll probably die later in the new trilogy. I doubt she’ll die in Halo 4. Unless they find a way to save her and fix her lifespan she’ll die. If they do fix her I imagine 343 will kill off Master Chief at the end of Halo 6. Which nerds would cry… including myself.
the human AI Cortana will die, but my theory is that she will be cloned using Forerunner AI techonogly to extend her lifespan.
I would cry so many tears of joy if they got rid of cortana. She serves no purpose but to repeat what has already been said, and to hold the hands of dumber players by pointing out what to do at every turn.

Cortana is 1 of 2 AIs in the universe to Reach Metastability! And she is very important to the story , and without her Chief would not show any personality.

Chief and Cortana won’t die in halo 4.
You understand why chief won’t die (its a trilogy, so why kill him off in halo 4???)
Cortana, heard she doesn’t die in halo 4 (dunno if true or not). She will most likely be saved by expanding her life-span or cloned while on requiem or helped by infinity. (speculation most likely not happening).
I don’t want cortana to die on none of the HALO’s.
It’s not really the path 343 is going down, it’s previously been stated in the fiction that AI can only live for X amount of years even if she is more advanced and came in contact with forerunner tech. That said if she is “Killed off” I don’t think it will be in H4, seems a bit to soon for a new trilogy.
I hope when the whole Halo franchise is over, they all live happily ever after and you see a glimpse of chief’s face after he takes Cortana out of his helmet, tosses his gun and helmet into the sand. Then Cortana displays in his hand and she says, “We did it Chief, it’s all over.” Then Chief adds, “It’s about time, I’ve been waiting to take this dump for years now, and these freakin developers never let me take my armor off…”
I said before and I’ll say it again: So long as the Chief is there so is Cortana. They have to stick together. I bet you if either dies, it’s going to be Chief first.

Well known fact but the chief could be killed at the end of Halo 4 and brought back through the Forerunner machine the Preserver.
