Cortana digital assistant coming to an end

Kinda sad to see this never evolved into anything. I tired this app several times over the years and it never worked quite right. Not that I had much need for a digital assistant. All I really wanted it to do is when I am driving I would be able to say hey Cortana play my favorites on Iheartradio, but never could get it to work. I would have to hit the button for her to listen. Them she would start that app but she wouldn’t play my programed stations. Oh well… Maybe if Infinite takes off they will bring back the app and give it proper support.

I never liked the feature it was a pain. But maybe if they improve it in the future it’ll be cool.

I never really used it to be honest

Yeah, I mean it always seemed like Microsoft would always be playing second fiddle to Google/Apple. They never really capitalized on adapting their early quality products of Zune and Blackberry, and have been behind the curve with anything related since.

I don’t think any one ever really used it since it didn’t function very well. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, I didn’t really use it either. It was cool to see her come to life as a PC AI assistant program, though.

It was cool in concept, but it was a little bit too intrusively integrated in Windows 10 until it became it’s own app, I won’t mourn it’s discontinuation but I appreciate what Microsoft were trying to accomplish with the assistant.

Also…They shudda’ brought back Clippy as the assistant, little fella never could catch a break.

…or if we connect our laptops and desktops to the domain, it’ll get the support.

Just to clear up some things, Cortana Digital Assistant is not going away, they are refocusing it into a productivity assistant for Microsoft Office, particular in Microsoft Teams and Outlook. It will remain on Windows 10 (unfortunately). As part of this process they are removing it from devices where it really had no purpose, such as phones, smart speakers, and headphones (sadly not including Windows). It will remain as a "feature" in Outlook and Teams on phones.

I like Cortana, but I don’t like Cortana. Hopefully this MS Office refocus will make it less invasive in Windows, and more focused in Office.

Sounds kinda lame… So now Cortana is going to be like a digital secretary, or that clippy thing from back in the day? I was just really hoping that Cortana would become a good alternative to Siri/Alexa. So we could use Cortana more like Master Chief would… Imagine driving along and you want to be safe so you are hands free… Then you are like man I am hungry I could go for some Italian food, so you are like, “Cortana give me directions to the closest Italian restaurant.” And then she says ,“the closest Italian restaurant is here would you like directions?” You say,“yes” and then she gives you the directions either on the phone or your display on your car.

I liked the name — that was about it!
