Dear 343,
I am a big Halo fan. I have been playing Halo ever since the original one came out on the original Xbox. Halo was the reason I bought an Xbox and switched over from Nintendo in the first place. I love the Halo franchise. It has one of the best storylines in video gaming history. The gameplay is amazing. I have always beaten every Halo game on Legendary and have really loved multiplayer. I have some good memories thanks to Halo.
Now, this is why I am posting this. [If whoever is reading this hasn’t beaten Halo 4 yet, then please refrain from continuing.] 343, I have loved the story between Master Chief and Cortana. That story is what drew me into Halo. Their relationship is what I can relate to with the story. Its one of the only consistencies I have really hoped would stay in the Halo story. This was one of the things I was so pumped about for Halo 4 – the return of Master Chief and Cortana. I really did not care for the stories of Halo Reach or Halo 3: ODST. I am not saying that they were not good stories. I just wanted more Master Chief and Cortana. But they did broaden the horizon for the Halo universe.
That being said, 343 you all did an outstanding job on the new Halo 4. While some things took some getting used to, I really liked what you guys did with Halo. I was a little skeptical since Bungie was no longer at the reins, but you all pulled it off! Great job! However, here is my issue. Cortana. Why did you do that? I suppose my question will get answered (hopefully) in Halo 5, but if not, then I will not be very happy. I know I am one person, but please do not take Cortana away from Master Chief or the Halo story! I cannot stress this enough! I would be a janitor and clean your bathrooms for FREE if you would just not ruin the entire Halo story by permanently killing Cortana. I am going to hold onto hope that Cortana will remain with Master Chief in the Halo story. I am just saying that killing her off would really ruin my perception of Halo and will destroy the remainder of the story for me.
On a lesser note, could you all please redo the Jackals? I like what you all did with the Covenant, but the Jackals just do not look at all like they have in the past. Their faces are too big and they do not have the long and pointy snouts with sharp teeth like they used to.
To summarize what my point is in writing this: 343, I am happy that you made a great Halo game. Truly, it lives up to my expectations for what Halo should be, even adding in a few new things that gave some more spark to the game. I am glad you brought back Master Chief and Cortana. I am not happy with how the story ended in Halo 4. Please do not kill off Cortana, 343!
