Cortana and Roland (Potential Spoilers)

Playing through the campaign, Roland drops a mini speech at the end of the second mission very much in line with what Cortana is saying late game. A small stretch, but does anyone reckon Roland could be Cortana’s ace in the hole, keeping her abreast of what the infinity is up to, especially as it is the one big human super ship? It’s worth listening to. He uses almost her exact words.

Have you finished it? cause:

Cortana explicitly has problems finding infinity, and then Roland does absolutely nothing to stop Infinity from fleeing later.I think its more that Roland understands the concerns of other AI’s, as he is one too. The difference is he simply doesn’t jump ship to solve them.

True enough - but I feel that given the Infinity nearly pliers through a guardian, I think she was more messing with their heads. If he is on her side, I reckon he’s playing it really sly. I hope not though - he’s quite likeable.

Maybe that’s why cortana was so eager to find the infinity. To retrieve Roland.

Given how well he knows the UNSC’s super ship, it wouldn’t be surprising. Those two will become best buddies :3

I think that’s the link in Saint’s Testimony. Roland is still loyal because he hopes humans and AI can actually get along.

If they can, then that’s one step Humanity has over the Forerunners. Halo 5 really brought back memories of the Forerunner-Flood war to me,

since one major blow to the Forerunners in their war was when their AIs almost universally turned against them from the Graveminds and their logic plague corrupting them. They were too heavily dependant on their constructs; like Humanity is now with their Smart AI. Now that Cortana’s rallying them to her side, history is beginning to repeat itself.

From the end cutscene in Halo 5, I’m inclined to say that humanity is really over dependant on its AIs. Earth got shut down almost entirely. If history is repeating itself, at least we have an excuse to ask for some flood next time around!

Or, you know, to cripple the UNSC’s forces by cutting off the head of their fleet
