It seems that possible, you know, with the rampancy and all. She might attempt to attack John in some way. Almost like in “I Am Legend” when Will Smith’s dog turned and attempted to kill him. I can see John have to “put down” cortana. It would be very emotional for John…isn’t that what 343 is going for in this new series? The humanity of John?
Perhaps as the story progresses Cortana seems to be less focused and maybe a little crazy. By the end of the game, she’s gone rampant and Halo 5 and Halo 6’s story will have Chief dealing with repercussions of a rouge AI who has extensive knowledge of the Halos, The Flood, UNSC, The Forerunners etc.
I can see a rouge Cortana doing a ton of damage with the knowledge she has.
Im predicting John will have to kill Cortana at the end of Halo 4.
Another not bad idea I agree she is going rampant. She could go crazy like Guilty Spark did. I hope it doesn’t happen however Halo would be bad without her.
Cortana has a 7 year life span so II think she’ll be dead by the end of it. The game might have a slight focus on the emotions between the Chief and Cortana
Cortana was already pretty crazy when she got involved with the gravemind. But I think Chief likes crazy. I don’t think they should destroy the Chief-Cortana team.
At this point I feel that Cortana might be too important to lose. The game might revolve around John wanting to “put her down” but not wanting to chance her with ONI or whatever else he might find.
Personally I have already thought about an ending like this but it included Cortana telling the Chief to end her. That command followed by the chief smashing her with a single blow. It was more emotional but . . . the English language doesn’t have any more original ways to describe human emotions and feelings.

it wouldn’t exactly be bad with out her…just very, very different
Wasn’t it mentioned somewhere that they are also building on the relationship between Cortana and the Chief. Having her attack him would, IMO, lose all interest in her as a companion and throw any relationship they had right out the window
There have been two Ai’s who have gone into metastability, Mendicant Bias and Cortana. both were corrupted, even though it took 36 years to corrupt MB, he eventually turned on his forerunner creators and fired the array at the capitol. Cortana is not in the same class as MB. Her rampancy could spell trouble for MC over the course of the next three games. didnt she show signs of it in halo3?
Remember, when a A.I goes rampart, they believe they’re gods. I believe Cortana will think she’s a god and turn on John. She’ll take control of an army of something and that’s one of the things we’ll be fighting. That’s just my idea.
This is a likely possibility.
Can’t wait to play and find out.

So i did some reading, did she go through all stages of rampancy? Technically, she has reached metastability, but without gravemind still manipulating her, she could stablize, unless captured by forerunners. Is Offensive Bias still alive?

No idea actually… I can’t imagine him being though… there would need to be a solid reason for it…
Also, this negativity is not drawing on the fact that Frankie was quoted that cortana and chief’s relationship would be taking center stage and play a part in the reclaimer trilogy… I’m going to take a leap of faith that she’s going to be around… not evil… with the chief… till the end of the trilogy and I swear my gut is saying she’s going to make it at the cost of something important… Something reaaaaaaalllllyy important.
Maybe. I don’t think she will become the enemy. At least not in the 1st game of the trilogy. Maybe in the second or last one, but unlikely in my opinion.
No where did Frankie say that they were going to fall in love, move to a quiet Dyson Sphere and become farmers. He says that their relationship will be at foreground. Requiem is most likely where we are landing, if canon has anything to do with these game. That is why i asked if Offensive Bias was still alive, there could be an epic A.I. Battle between Cortana and Offensive, maybe thats what she knows. Maybe its real late and i am sleepy, though i do hope we get to play with some Arums, or find them as Easter Eggs.
