I think he means the correct name for the ammunition delivery device, i.e, the magazine of the AR. Clips get gun people into rage mode because it is the incorrect name.
At least they got the name for the extra ammo weapons in Warzone right. Called them Extended Mag instead of Extended Clip.
Most people dont know the difference, I guess they figured it wasn’t worth it. “Clip” is the common term, and it I cringe every time I hear it.

Are you the kind of person who figuratively loses their mind when people make this mistake? I could make the argument that “clip” is commonly enough used as a synonym for “magazine” whereas clip in itself is quite an obscure object for the average person that outside perhaps the gun community there is no ambiquity of communication when “clip” is used to refer to a magazine. Not to mention that there’s little overlap between situations where the distinction would actually need to be made, and situations where the participants aren’t aware of the distinction. Therefore I’d say that it’s completely appropriate to use “clip” and “magazines” interchangeably in a colloguial context, especially in a video game where the distinction has zero effect on the clarity of communication. After all, as far as games are concerned “a thing with bullets in it” would convey the exactly same relevant information as “magazine” (or “clip”).
Terminology can only be correct or incorrect so far as whether it manages convey the necessary information or not. In this case, the distinction between a magazine and a clip is not necessary information, and therefore the distinction doesn’t need to be made, and therefore using the words as synonyms, in this context, is not incorrect.

Most of the covenant use an internal battery that can’t be replaced, its sort.of a mass produced non reusable flashlight.

The thing is though, in the military you simply do NOT ever call a magazine a clip unless you want a serious dressing down by a superior officer. In halo you’re a spartan, a branch of the military of earth. So they would never call it a clip.
