Convert Short Form YouTube URL to Long Form

For a few months now I’ve been seeing a lot of forum goers try and share YouTube videos but are unable to due to the format of the link.

If your link looks like this:

https://youtu,be/6ZdX-ahTv2Q

…this is Short Form and it will not post, you can convert it to postable Long Form using these steps.

  1. Delete the period between “youtu” and “be”

https://youtube/6ZdX-ahTv2Q

  1. Add a “.com” after “YouTube”

https://youtube.com/6ZdX-ahTv2Q

  1. Add the code “watch?v=“ just after the forward slash after “YouTube.com”

https://youtube.com/watch?v=6ZdX-ahTv2Q

All steps are found in this link:

Hope this helps

Bookmarked, thanks for the info!

There’s a few other tricks that work this way too. Whenever I get a “youtube short” video that I can’t seem to watch the normal way, I change the URL so that it matches a normal youtube video URL. Ta-da! Everything now looks like a standard youtube video.

There’s a lot of mumbo jumbo that’s actually pretty legible once you can identify the format.

Thanks for the info but you could have left out steps 1 and 2 and gone straight to; use this URL structure haha…
