Controversial Halo Opinions

I did recently post these in a similar topic but I guess I can post them here as well:

-I feel that The Silent Cartographer is overrated as a level. A lot of people seemingly have it as the best level in CE but I’ve never been a big fan of it. The level feels more of like an E3 Showcase kind of level if anything. While nearly every CE level has something new or unique about it, I don’t think the same could be said for Silent Cartographer.

-Halo 2 Classic’s graphics are pretty rough and aged worse than CE’s, and Halo 2 needed the anniversary remaster much more than CE did.

Definitely not true. How long have you been playing Halo?

1, 6, 9, 13 hard disagree. But those are just subjective opinions you have. I wonder why you think halo 3 was overated.

They need to have a method of gaining real money currency in game if they continue monetizing the game the way they are. Having a method of allowing people to work for items in game really lowers the stress and anger about a pay wall.

I can see halo infinite becoming similar to magic arena, but for FPS if they add a method of gaining in game currency through actions in game, but if they don’t I see it dying off like most other Free to play games out there that require a large user base to function well.

I really enjoyed that Halo 4 explored Master Chief’s personality and emotions more.

A lot of people like to quote Bungie devs on how Chief is just an empty suit for the player to inhabit. I totally get that sentiment. I too have had many fun hours playing the Bungie Halo games thinking “I need to go do this” as opposed to “I have to control the Master Chief to do this”. But looking back, I think about the difference between Chief in the older games and his character in the books that came out around the same time. I really enjoyed how the books described not just Chief’s combat abilities that we all know, but also the care he has for his fellow soldiers, the anger he feels towards his enemies, even fear when he first encountered the flood.

This is someone who has spent a lifetime fighting. His closest bonds are Doctor Halsey (the lady who kidnapped him), the allies he makes on the battlefield (many of whom he’s seen killed), and Cortana. To me, it makes so much sense to show how even a soldier like him still can feel fear, anger, uncertainty, and urgency when it comes to Cortana’s rampancy.

There’s no doubt that it’s fun to step into the shoes of a 1 ton alien killing super soldier, but moments in Halo 4 that showed the human inside were, I thought, a great addition. The pinnacle of this is Chief’s conversation with Lasky at the end of the game. We might not know what Chief is thinking in that moment, but we can tell that something in him has changed. Personally, I like seeing these flaws and quirks in a story’s hero. After all, why can’t someone who has fought for humanity, both literally and metaphorically, show some humanity himself?

HALO 5 birthed some of the best movement options known to any video game. The abilities in halo 5 were fun and challenging and fair since everyone had them. My hot take is that HCS settings from Halo 5 should’ve been the blueprint for all future halos

I think halo 4 and 5 are some of the best Halo games for both pvp and campaign. Especially campaign.

Something I find interesting is the Motion Tracker in the first Infinite flight actually worked just like the HCS settings.

I thought it was great - but I don’t think the community was too familiar with it and the flight was their first experience. There was pushback so the Motion Tracker was changed to be more traditional.

I cant tell if this is a troll or not.

90% if this is trolling lol.

Currently, it feels like my most controversial opinion is that Halo Infinite is good in some ways and bad in others :joy: A lot of folks seem hellbent on digging their heels in on either defending or hating on this game no matter what.

DMR/BR starts are boring.

I agree. Halo 5 had the best campaign hands down. And the graphics are still amazing on my PS4.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

25m motion tracker is better.

Halo Infinites Campaign was lame and not worth the 6 year wait and 343 seriously sucks at story telling. Also I’d take a Knight from Halo 5 over those lame flying skimmers any day. And forcing Xbox players with PC players kinda killed multiplayer from me after realizing there is no anti cheat

It should be an option in customs. 343 really should give us huge flexibility in customs.
