Controls

What controller layout do you use? Do you switch the controls on your xbox to fit? What is a scheme you’d like to see in Halo Infinite? Here are a few of mine.

Player model controls:

Duke: Taking the classic CE scheme never hurt anyone. Duke has since been outfitted to support the modern gameplay tech, such as thruster use.

Classic Halo CE controls with slight mods to support sprint, thrusters, etc.

“The legend lives on!”

Ratchet: Taking the control scheme of one of my favorite games, then porting it to Halo. A few mods here and there, but overall very similar.

LB: Zoom/Smart Link
RB: Crouch
LT: Thruster
RT: Action/Reload
LS Down: Sprint
RS Down: Grenade
LS: Move
RS: Look
A: Jump
B: Fire weapon
X: Melee
Y: Switch weapons

“Nothing like staying at home in megapolis, losing a game of Galactic Chess, then racing to save your home planet.”

Rocky: For those who like to use their fists.

LB: Grenade
RB: Fire Weapon
LT: Jump
RT: Melee
LS Down: Thruster
RS Down: Crouch
LS: Move
RS: Look
A: Zoom/Smart Link
B: Sprint
X: Action/Reload
Y: Switch Weapons

“They stack the odds 'til we take to the streets for the kill with the skill to survive.”

Lefty: For those who like to use the D-pad more than the buttons.

The buttons and D-pad are swapped, all 4 triggers are swapped, and the sticks are swapped.

“Who would even use this?”

Custom: Create a scheme that you prefer to use on the battlefield.

Custom scheme.

Forge schemes:

Classic: Take on the original control scheme of forge! Now ported to support Halo’s modern controls. (Basically things like changing speed)

Halo 3’s control scheme for forge, a few additions in the free control slots for modern forge controls.

Professional: too much effort to discover a new control scheme!

Essentially Halo 5’s forge controls.

Custom: Create a scheme that you prefer to use on the battlefield.

Custom scheme.

I USE RECON

Remember, these controls are for console. PC? That’s a different story that I refuse to mess with. Too many buttons.

I honestly don’t even remember what I use. I’ve looked through them all multiple times in halo 5 and mcc and I don’t like any of the layouts. I swear the one I used in halo 3 is different than all the ones available in mcc. All the layouts have at least 1 problem for me - usually crouching or melee related. I really wish there was a way to map controls for all games in general to whatever the player wants (without getting the elite controller). I hope it’s a feature on the series X but I’m not stupid, we won’t get that, it’ll stay exclusive to the elite controller and it’ll stay primitive to where it changes the button mapping at a console level instead of a game/app level.

I feel the same. RN I’m experimenting with Fishstick in Halo 5, simply put, it’s a scheme I know from Borderlands. I like it. Not a scheme for Halo, though. I might go back to recon.

I use bumper jumper and probably will for the foreseeable future.

That being said, it’s 2020 and there is no reason that most games shouldn’t offer button mapping.

I use Bumper Jumper. I would like to see a fully customizable controller layout for Halo: Infinite. If Bioshock 2’s multiplayer had it, so can Halo.

I usually go with default but I have used bumper jumper before. I think we should be allowed to map our own buttons, full customisation would be terrific imo.

As long as bumper jumper exists I’m allll good.
Never really been a fan of recon or default controls

As a console player, I use the recon layout in all my Halo titles. Not sure how it works with PC.
