Controls controling my spartan, not me?

Confused?.. I was when I hopped in and raged at the silly default control scheme and changed to Recon because logically thinking forced me to believe it was the same as Reach’s Recon controls.

:expressionless: I was wrong.

So I stick to default and slowly came to a conclusion… the same button layout is also the same as Call of Duty’s Default Button Layout.

At first I thought “Maybe the same person who determines the button layouts on games or whatnot was the same person from CoD’s…” But thats just a little over thinking it. THE TRUTH IS THE BUTTON SCHEME IS HIDEOUS AND THEY WANA MAKE THINGS THE SAME BETWEEN GAMES SO PEOPLE CANT SAY ERMAIGERD THESE CONTROLS SUCKKK… Wrong again.

The Default Control Scheme just works. “But Sage, that doesnt give enough evidence that your conclusion is right… AT ALL.” So fine, I’ll ignore that there was no reason in my mind that the Covie-Human Truce was broken. (I believe the reason they did this was to eliminate people trying to say whats better to play in multiplayer because of hit boxes n such. I’d actually love to see a multiplayer hit box wireframe for the two-- back to the topic)

Maybe people did complain too much that switching between the shooters they love so much was too bleh and screwed things up so they-- the players wanted a medium. I didnt research into the other button layouts so forgive me if more then one are the same in both games.

I think not enough has changed in gameplay to change the button layouts to this extent.

I wish I had the same controls as I did with Recon in Halo Reach. Its the way I trained my muscle memory to play the game. So why change it so many times? To get a new feel? :expressionless: NO. Not good enough.

Here is what I’d like for 343 to do: Add a custom button layout feature.
This way we can change the buttons to be whatever WE want them to be.

I’ve honestly had nothing else to complain about other then trying to melee someone and crouching instead. it… just made me feel <_< crippled lol.

o.0 got buried relativly quick.

I guess no one else cares about the controls

well that’s not true, the problem is there have been way to many people car. There have been dozens of threads started on this subject and nothing happens ever so get over it.

It only takes half hour to get use to a new control scheme. I use Bumper Jumper and have accepted the fact that I will not be able to Jet Pack, but there are a bunch of other AA’s that I can still use now.

Even though I agree there should be custom button mapping, but that also adds to the possibility of certain combinations creating button glitched, as seen frequently in Halo 2

I use bumper jumper and the only changes are sprint and switch grenades. I immediately got used to both changes and I DESTROY people in this game. Every armor ability in this game is toggled except hardlight shield and jetpack. I can still use hardlight shield if I don’t need to look around, and I never use jetpack anyways so I’m pretty much unaffected by the changes.

Why can’t you people use non-toggle armor abilities?

Because with bumper jumper, armor abilities are on (x), so we have to hold x to use that AA. The only way to use that AA and aim at the same time it to “claw” the controller.

Most people don’t like to claw, so you can see how uncomfortable it is to use jet pack.

jetpack-aim/shoot-jetpack-aim/shoot-jetpack-aim/shoot…

A lot of us use bumper jumper is because it allows you to jump, aim, and either shoot, melee, or throw grenades all at the same time. It’s actually a really good control scheme once you get used to it.

  1. Thanks to the mechanics of the new JP, Bumper Jumper really is the best control scheme for active players.

  2. Personally, BJ with an Onza controller to make B on RB2 and A on LB2, the sticks and control scheme is near flawless for Halo gameplay. The 720 needs 2 more shoulder buttons.

I personally use Recon, because it is the most like halo one…It wish I could swap the weapon reload and the sprint :frowning:

Anyways, I guess I use my controllers “claw’d”, because I see no problem with Bumper Jumper.
