I’m just curious and starting a discussion about Controller setups.
I can’t STAND the default controls, frankly, I don’t know how people play Halo like that…
I have completely overhauled the controls to feel more like an evolution of the older Halo’s.
I play on an Elite 2 xbox controller. Honestly I don’t see how or why it isn’t just the new standard at this point. Those 4 extra triggers on the back of the controller are invaluable.
As it stands, I am only using 2 of the 4 additional triggers the back of the Elite 2 right now. The one on the back right is my Jump (which is also A) and on the left is use equipment (which is also B).
I moved crouch and aim back to OG Halo controls. Clicking in the left stick is crouch/slide (set as hold to crouch which is SUPER important, back from the crouch jump days, and is just halo to me). And clicking in on the right stick is Aim which is also traditional Halo, and just feels right to me. Left trigger to aim feels good in regular war games, but NOT in Halo in my opinion! Actually, it feels incredibly off, I don’t understand how default drifted so far from what I see as halo standard controls.
For triggers and bumpers, Left bumper is Sprint, Left trigger is grenade.
Right trigger is Fire and right bumper is Melee.
All this means the only time I have to take my thumbs off the sticks is to reload which is X, switch weapons which is Y, or switch grenades which in right on the D-Pad (which I’m considering using the other Elite 2 trigger on the back left for).
Other rarely used functions, I have MARK as up on the D-pad, SCAN as left on the D-pad, and DROP WEAPON as down on the D-pad.
I’ve got look acceleration at 4, might bring it up to max 5.
Sensitivity’s are at 8.5 and Zoom sensitivity is at default.
Deadzones are down to 4
And as an OG Goldeney player, I am inverted (Goldeneye default, and where I got my FPS roots)
With these controls, it feels like the best Halo to date!!! Frankly, its PERFECT! To me anyways. I’m curious what others think of these controls.
