Controller Sensitivity Issues

I’m consistently experiencing issues where I’ll launch the game, hop into a match, and my right thumbstick sens is incredibly high - higher than what a controller goes if you max it out. The only way I’ve found to correct the issue is reboot the game… I’ve ended up jumping into custom matches before queuing up to check whether I need to reboot the game.

Anyone else having this issue? (I’m on PC)

I’m on X box and Randomly have the same issue, I play on low settings 2 acceleration 2 vert, 2 Hor.

So I know my recital should be slow and steady but many times I can’t keep it on screen feels like I’m playing max speed,

Have to exit and reload……it is annoying but that’s what I’ve got used to with 343.

Same issue I experienced. Another way to tell is that you won’t have any vibration either, despite if that option is enabled. I don’t really play Infinite anymore (for obvious reasons) but I can’t remember if rebooting the game or computer would fix it for me. It didn’t happen TOO often, but often enough.

Is it possible you are experiencing the disabled aim assist when jumping? That used to catch me off guard until I learned that is a thing. Really throws you off.

No, lack of aim assist still provides a smooth turning experience. This issue seems to crank the sensitivity of the right stick in general and only rebooting the game seems to fix it.

The aiming in this game is really weird - has felt “off” from day one, and there doesn’t seem to be a fix.

It’s not the aiming. Its when the game loads up and you drop into a match the sensitivity does not reflect nor appears effected by the values in the game menu. The issue persists until the game is rebooted.

Are you on steam or Xbox app?

Steam but it appears @PUREVENGANCE experiences this on Xbox.

So steam still attempts to use steam input even if you have the setting disabled in steam itself. Xbox app just doesn’t work. Can’t even launch the game half the time.

Delete the period and go to that post I made. It goes over why aiming feels off/weird in Infinite ans how to fix it. Infinites default settings are so different from what previous Halo games had and im not sure why it is that way.

Main thing that will help is maxing out your aim acceleration as that is the only way to get closer to a linear aim response which is what most shoopters used to have up until a few years ago.

You’re not understanding the problem. The best way I can explain is that not only does the sensitivity shoot straight up, but it will also go lower. You can literally “feel” it when it happens in both cases. It has nothing to do with how your controller options are set. Because, as I stated already, the controller won’t even vibrate even if you have the option enabled.

For me, that means the game is simply ignoring anything in that menu because it’s glitching out and only rebooting the game, computer, or Steam (I can’t remember what I did. Can’t play due to constant crashing and getting “banned” for it) will fix it.

Only if you have experienced what we’re talking about will you understand. But that’s not your fault by any means. It’s already hard to describe to someone who hasn’t experienced this yet lol

Put another way, my litmus test for whether I need to reboot the game is if I launch into academy and my controller drifts. My normal settings negate the controller drift. Whatever settings are loaded into the system have the deadzones effectively turned off resulting in a noticeable drift.

All I could recommend to “fix” this issue is max out your look deadzones. Idk how weird it’ll feel. Might help, who knows.

No, the issue isn’t incorrect deadzones settings - I have my deadzones set so normally no drift occurs. The issue is when the game starts it doesn’t load the saved settings and doesn’t seem effected by changes made in the settings menu.

I swear everytime 343 makes an update it breaks the game more… Since this new event my shots have felt so under powered, nothing connects, zero auto-aim. I mean nothing… I have to try like 5 times harder just to get a kill because nothing is actually working. When I land 3 head shots with the BR and somehow all my hits after that is nothing something is truly broken about this game.

Got you, my bad for the misunderstanding

Update: same thing happens today, checked my settings and both horizontal and vertical had switched from 2.5 & 3.5 to both in 5 !!!
No one else uses the Xbox……other settings had gone back to default, I had just downloaded update ?

i literally came to the forums today to see if anyone else is having this exact issue.

now, i am on Series X, playing the digital version of Halo Infinite. this has SEVERELY handicapped my gameplay to the point where i just give up and not play Infinite anymore.

i always dashboard and ‘quit’ the game when i am finished playing, so i am not sure if everyones suggestion of restarting helps on a console. but its to the point where i set ALL sensitivity to 1 and its still a jarring experience.

Also for me once this happens I can change the settings to the lowest on everything or highest on everything and nothing has an effect on the movement speed of the rectical
