Why? It’s like 10 times slower minimum than every other console shooter out there. But the default PC look sensitivity for this game is 100 times faster than the MAX controller sensitivity setting? The DEFAULT setting. It’s fine if PC players have faster sensitivity, I don’t mind that at all. What I do mind is being massively handicapped in the turning speed department for no reason at all. It’s almost as if this game was designed and made specifically for people who’ve only ever used slow look sensitivity, because all of the fast sensitivity settings I would use just aren’t options I can pick.
Sorry for the rant, I’m having a bad day and I was planning this post for a while. I am really disappointed with this game. Such a great looking game and I waited so freakin long for it only to be disappointed with something so benign as the sensitivity settings!??!?!
If you’re a 343 Halo developer and you’re reading this, ask yourself why is it that PC players with a mouse have much faster sensitivity? Why don’t they have the same turning speed and same sensitivity settings controller users have? They’re not the same because faster look sensitivity is just better. And having fast look sensitivity is not uncontrollable on controller, just because you yourself might not be able to use fast sensitivity comfortably, doesn’t mean other people can’t. Everyone who uses fast sensitivity on controller is effectively barred from playing this game just because of something dumb like a lack of game settings? That’s like forgetting to include Inverted and Southpaw! You’re preventing high sensitivity users from playing the game with everyone else and having fun. I’m not sacrificing my look sensitivity settings just so I can play Halo, not a chance in hell. There’s plenty of other things to play and spend my money on. Canceled my campaign pre-order. Yikes.
i understand your point, but i will say, try the game on both pc, and xbox before you judge, its quite balanced, with controller you have bullet magnetism, (your bullets hit even if your cursor/crosshair isnt 100% on the mark) + aim assist only works on controllers, so pc players have to do every part of the aim, were console players have a little assistance, controller players have the long distance advantage, pc players have close distance advantage, but if the pc player cant keep locked on, and you can in close distance and you are able to predict movement, of your opponent you can pre warm, you’re aim, + the assist helps you keep locked on, + bullet magnetism. will balance the advantages / disadvantages.
also pc players can use controllers too and if you didnt know, i havent tested it yet, but i beleive you an xbox player can also use a mouse and keyboard O.O. please dont forget the game isnt fully released yet, season 1 is live beta, that will follow into full release <_< so they could still tweak it,
pc players vs xbox both have advantages and disadvantages, xbox has alot more assists than pc, ALOT more <_< good luck in your fights marine and keep your head high,
This needs more attention. TinT_LosT, all good points, but I don’t think you are understanding OP’s chief complaint. I think OP bringing PC comparisons isn’t helpful for this, so I’m not going to talk to that.
The issue, at its core:
Max controller sensitivity in Infinite is incredibly slow compared to other FPS games, even other Halo games. As an example, in other games I usually use 7 for my sensitivity, sometimes higher. This allows me to maintain control while being able to quickly react and whip around if someone is behind me. I immediately felt like ‘10’ in Infinite was more like 5 in other games (if not slower).
As a rough comparison, I can typically jump and complete multiple rotations before landing. In Infinite, I can just barely complete a single rotation at “max” settings before landing. I’ve tried changing settings for dead zones, responsiveness, acceleration, and with no luck - I can’t freaking turn around fast enough. If you think it’s a simple difference in air time for jumps, it isn’t. My friends regularly comment on my play style in my clips from previous games, calling the way I move ‘twitchy’. Now I’m silky mooth and oh so horribly slow…
I’d like to think I’m decent at the game (Platinum 2 at the moment). However, my only hope in PvP against decent players is to encounter enemies strictly from the front, relying on strafing, grenades, and my accuracy. In previous games, I could get reversals quite often because I maneuver well and keep my accuracy even if I have a tactical disadvantage.
I understand most players don’t play with high sensitivity like mine, but it’s silly to have such a fine degree of adjustment and customization in every area (such as button mapping or zoom-specific ADS sensitivity), while leaving max sensitivity so glacially slow. I’m not asking for 343 to make other players play at higher sensitivity, only to provide us with a full range from 1 = SLOW to 100 = Holy **** you’re insane. It is a great game and I’d genuinely play it much more if this got some attention… but I often end my sessions frustrated after being killed continuously by players who get multiple BR bursts on me before I can even turn around.
i have 3 controllers, in all 3 i get different speed sens, why? i dont know but i use the one with medium feel sens, the new default controller seems very fair in speed turning terms. in console you might need another one but also i noticed the game runs like trash one xbox one x and on series s , that may be an issue too.
Good points overall. In my case I prefer not having acceleration at all and very high sensitivity, but cannot do this in Halo Infinite that as the turn speed will be just pointless slow. So right now my aiming is compromised as I want some quick turning speed. Auto aiming helps but it is much better if you give us the options so we don’t need to depend on a assist. Using a Razer Wolverine Ultimate controller with a tall thumbstick for aiming, but my Elite 2 has exactly the same issue.
I think the solutions would be
Allow sensitivity to be increased from a max of 10 to 20
Allow incrementing the turn speed (when you hold the aiming thumbstick to the maximum). Personally I would set this very high.
I have this setup in games that allow it like the great Titanfall series. Curiously Battlefield and others allow all this options but Halo sadly is still a bit behind. Hoping we get more options soon!
PC players complain that the controller is too easy to aim.
Controller players complain that the sensitivity is too low and the curve cannot be adjusted.
The current scheme is problematic and cannot satisfy everyone, but this is the traditional scheme that has been used.
Yeah man I’m with you I feel like they added so much extra crap like dead zones and precise numbers I can never really get my aim right. I have all my dead zones on 0 and sens at maybe 7 and still just feel slow! But the second I get in a gunfight My sens wants to start getting fast and I’m flicking all around my screen.
It’s truly awful since I can go back and play MCC and everything just feel soooo much better and precise.
Really late to the party but this post needs way more attention.
I can get by playing team slayer (kind of) on the super slow sensitivity 343s put in here, but swat and most other modes are out of the question.
It’s not like halo has always been this slow…. It’s literally just infinite. I really don’t understand why 10 sensitivity feels like 2 on any other console game.
Good luck trying to turn around in time, everyone.
I came to the forums for this topic too! Look sensitivities and accelerations curves are much faster, more consistent, and more precise in MCC (especially with modern aim control enabled) than what’s offered in Infinite.
It’s a real bummer that we have more advanced and faster movement in Infinite, but slower, sluggish aim controls.
I’d love to see an option to use the same aim/camera movement of MCC within Infinite.
I tried the game again with Season 2. Sensitivity is still broken and painfully slow. There’s still no way to remove acceleration entirely. No option to disable aim assist. I’m not sure why 343 struggles so hard to get theIr controller settings right when this game is designed first and foremost for controller.
I agree, I feel like a dump truck trying to turn, sluggish. In this type of game, I expect snappy movement, but it’s not, especially if you come from a game that has. It’s not like 343 is revolutionizing player movement, there are already games that do it very well, but not 343.
