I think this would be a great asset for Halo. Many people are going to come from COD, Battlefield, ect. so why not have a way to may a custom controller map.
Because its hard to interpret a configuration system to map out special design templates of the controller’s functions. Im sure they will have a bunch of different preset controller layouts to choose from like they did with MCC, maybe even more who knows. In my opinion if your coming from a different game, get used to the default controls since most halo games use them anyways and if you enjoy Halo 5 so much mind as well go for the other game titles campaigns as well.
I worked out a control scheme I would use for Halo 5 a week ago. Weird thing is this is actually the standard scheme for Halo 5. So basically this control scheme is going to be for other games
Right Trigger
Shooting
Left Trigger
Aiming
Right Bumper
Melee
Left Bumper
Grenade
Right Analogue
Crouching
Left Analogue
Sprinting
A (Gonna use paddle)
Jumping
B (Gonna use paddle)
Thrusterpack
X (Gonna use paddle)
Reload
Y (Gonna use paddle)
Switch Weapons
These paddles are going to be though to get used to though.

Your first sentence is strangely worded for such simple meaning, but still, key-mapping is insanely easy. Many different programs have been made that let PC users change the controls for keyboards AND controllers. They already have to choose what buttons do what anyways, they just need to give us that power. Bungie, and now 343i just didn’t put control-mapping in Halo because they are lazy. It is not hard at all to do. Not even a little bit. They just don’t care.
As for default Halo controls, the idea that a player should have to learn the default controls is intolerant. In Halo 1 sure, but not EVERY Halo since. Skyrim has custom controls. Halo should too. It should be mandatory, just like proper sound/video options/settings. There are disabled people who could play a heck of a lot more games if only they included custom controls instead of button schemes.
The default controls changed from every Halo anyways and a lot of players like the old style of controls. I don’t but I would love for those people to be able to play their way and me my way. Glitches/bugs are not good excuses for no control-mapping either. BXR existed because of animation priorities, not button maps.
In any case, this all falls under Options/Settings; something which Halo has always had low quality and little variety in. We should not expect any significant upgrades in this category ever. 343i won’t lose money over it, therefore it is irrelevant.
I’m already buying the Elite. I will be able to remap any way I want!
I am lefty and there’s not much for a lefty in this game. That is why after being a fan of halo since the first halo that came out I’m starting to let go of this.

You can remap your buttons under your xbox settings…
Settings>devices>controller>button remapping
Coming from CoD or BF? Fishstick is the closest you’ll get to default CoD
