The bottom line is that balancing aim assist properly means balancing it around the top 5% of Controller players. In doing so you’re also forcing the mediocre aim assist crutching players to realize how bad they are. And the mediocre Controller players are the majority of the game’s market.
That’s why my solution is and has been for years now is to just give up on any serious efforts to balance Mouse vs Controller. It should be an optional feature for social and custom games only.
And also turn Mouse ranked into just a no aim assist/bullet magnetism ranked that’s open to all inputs.
Oh, maybe you’re right, people will complain about anything. I’ve never seen it but I’m sure there were. I had no issues with aim during the flights so I didn’t care.
I don’t know why you call that a 1960’s mentality? I would say the complete opposite, with what you PC players have been saying is childish. You don’t like how the game plays on your input, so EVERYTHING has to change to make you happy. Is it really a “1960’s” mentality to ask for IBMM so players can be happy on both sides? Controller Vs KBM debate will never end it’ll be the same debate over and over and over because KBM players want all the advantage to be there own and don’t want anyone to possibly have a .000000001% chance of success over them.
I have played both, I have tried to explain my own and other experiences and how controller is by nature a handicap vs KBM.
If you want fairness in a crossplay platform game there is going to be some sort of aim assist for controllers, don’t like it? Don’t play the game. Infinite has the weakest aim assist of any game I have ever played, it is extremely subtle and discreet and has been patched/nerfed by the devs multiple times now and yet the KBM twitch streaming booger eating people keep pushing for KBM to be solely the only way to play by stripping anyone else of the chance to possible have a level playing field with them.
I average 45% accuracy with controller while my two close friends I play with that use KBM average in the 60-70% range. Guess what we are pretty close in kills, why? Accuracy is not the decisive factor in winning a battle, end of story.
These KBM players really are something else, it’s like the meme of the kid putting a stick in the spokes of his on bike tire……if you suck just admit it, don’t put pressure to change the game specifically for your sole benefit and no one else’s is complete crap and you can’t blame it one “it not competitive, and will push the competitive players away and all we will have left is console noobs”
OP I highly doubt you are competitive with your 45-50% accuracy and halo 5 which is arguably hands down the worst halo to be developed still ended up on esports streaming live on television and it had the STRONGEST controller aim assist.

60-70% accuracy is not that hard to achieve, I have a couple games where I’ve even done it.

im just gonna say that PC already has enough advantages, sidekick spam, easy reticle placement, easy vehicles and pickups, insta aim skewer and sniper, ability to use macros and cheats etc. controllers have analog movement and aim assist. I used MK for a bit after switching from controller ( i do this often) and it was baffling how easy it is to aim and do stuff, just get good.
They tried to balance KM and controller on MCC and it ruined MCC by letting MK users turn vehicles at any rate they wish letting banshees scrape and boost at unintended rates and wraiths splattering boarders by spinning with 200% more flexibility, this objectively hurt the game and is a direct result of the PC community crying for advantage they didnt need or respect. People like you have too much of a voice and if this repeats we will have MCC 2.0, what you propose will not benefit the game at all, it will only make controller players have less incentive and the game already has little incentive to play as it is. I get PC players scrape F2P games as the main feature of their platform but leave this one alone.
