Controller Players Living in the Past Are Infinite's Greatest Threat

I starting playing Halo with CE’s original PC port. I spent many years playing Halo only with MnK before I got an Xbox, which is what I now use for Halo. I’m a veteran player, but if I was clinging to the past in my case I’d be using PC with MnK still.

If anything, I feel like on Infinite MnK players have the advantage. The aim assist on controller is a lot less strong than MCC’s or 5’s.

Inputs could be better/more balanced, but it’s mostly other, larger issues that have caused Infinite’s population to sag so low. Blaming a significant portion of the playerbase because of their preferred input method for infinite’s woes is ludicrous.

Its not only reason. But it is absolutely the reason 90% of the PC player base left a few weeks after the game launched and twitch viewership is lower than the new SpongeBob game lol.

And its not even about input imbalance or Halo not catering to mouse and keyboard, it straight up just feels awful. Easily the worst FPS I have ever played with mouse and keyboard on PC. It just feels off, its sluggish, theres input lag, the sensitivity scaling for X/Y axis and different scopes is off… PC performance is also terrible, lower framerates/poor frame pacing is much more noticeable on MKB over controller. I hadn’t used a controller in 6 years, after a few weeks of pulling my hair out and popping in and out of Onyx I decided to just use a controller and while I hate every second of it, I got to 1800 onyx in a couple of weeks. Literally everyone I know outside of maybe one person that natively uses mouse and keyboard has switched to controller (most have quit all together). It’s no coincidence that there are no pro players on mouse and keyboard, its just severely outclassed. Also infuriates me that they silently removed the “mouse magnetism” setting that was in the flights just before the game came out. Even with the terrible performance in the flights I could tell aiming on MKB was much better. They still have not given an explanation for removing it… Just absolutely insane to me how they could watch the PC version audience vanish within weeks of launch and not even hint that they are monitoring input imbalance or thinking about tweaking… On top of the performance issues and crashing, they’ve barely even acknowledged its an issue… I’ve honestly lost all hope that 343 care about any of us, let alone PC players

You obviously havent played Infinite on PC with mouse and keyboard, its absolutely terrible. If you were to go try it you would immediately return here and delete this. Playing a 20 year old game on PC with mouse and keyboard has nothing to do with the MKB experience in Halo Infinite.

Or I dont know. Give us mouse and keyboard support that isn’t a complete joke, and actually optimize the game for PC. This game is dead, there is absolutely no way they’re ever going to give us a crossplay toggle, just get that out of your head.

They will… two years down the line when the devs actually fix the more game-breaking bugs and adjust the shop to be a lot more consumer friendly.

I genuinely have no idea what your point is, outside of you stating his points are wrong with no arguments. What does him being a long time fan of Halo have to do with anything? If anything that makes him more qualified to make distinctions between input imbalance than the rest of you guys… And thats what infuriates me more than anything. Anytime this is brought up all the console players whine about how unfair it is to play against mouse and keyboard despite never having played with one. MKB is absolutely terrible, its a severe disadvatnage-- if it weren’t there would be more than 0 pros using MKB.

The difference between PC players on MKB and you guys – is we have used both. We can easily compare the differences between the two side by side, and its incredibly imbalanced. You watch one clip of someone doing a 180 and getting a no scope and it forever becomes your excuse for dying. “ItS SooOoo UnFaIr LeT uS toGgLe CrOsSpLaAy”. If you guys truly knew how bad it is you WOULD WANT to play against PC players on mouse and keyboard.

Played on both PC and Xbox in my 20 years of online gaming.

My score of 36 kills recently in a tactical slayer match that had no M&K players in it seems to prove the point that M&K has it a bit easy in Tac Slayer at least; as usually my scores in that have at least twenty less kills and about an even amount of deaths.

Edit -
I had at least three matches with no M&K the other day, so I would say that since my scoring nearly doubled in all of these matches and 36 was my high; it definitely gives an edge in accuracy based modes.

i was only telling to revan that he got it all wrong since the OP service record tells something diffrend so to tell somebody he is not a long time halo fan when somebody that really is something all long time halo players have respect for each other more.
i am also a long time halo player not from the original Halo CE or original Halo 2 time but still from the original halo 3 time.

maybe true about that part.
but its always the PC players that whine about the crossplay chance’s from the console players that not wane have crossplay at all with then.
then its always the PC players that whine about it.

crossplay isnt going away. I understand you guys dont want to play against cheaters but thats just the way it is. The population is too low on PC for that to be option. I also dont think cheating is nearly as common as everyone seems to think, but I promise you playing against mouse and key is an advantage for you – you shouldn’t want to get rid of crossplay for those reasons

I agree with tac slayer, mouse and keyboard def have an advantage there – but for everything else its controller.

i am not against it that its been remove.
still its also a option i can deal with.

i am against it like a lot off other console players WE CANT TURN IT OFF at all.

is a reason that the PC platform has the highst Cheating risk level there is not the best reason to get rid off crossplay at all.
and its always the PC platform that needs to use aim bot’s or wall hacks to get kills in matchmaking and sure not all PC players use that type cheats but there are that are using then.

and here is a good lesson for you.
1 PC cheater is all to much for the console players so yea all is it not much still 1 is all to much.

I guess I’m missing the connection of when mouse and keyboard PC players became the master race that decides the fate of all modern video games.

Eventually it’ll just be “remove aim assist altogether”, so there will mostly just be dominated by KBM players.

Bro keeps using the “before i have ‘the mob’” statement. No, there is no mob, your post just isn’t a real issue.

first the PC players whine about that crossplay most stay force.
since the console players hate it like hell and wane see it remove or becoming a option to turn off.

now the PC players are whine about that Aim Assist needs be nerf but what there really mean more is that its need to be remove but that part there are not telling since if there tell it there get big hate feedback against then thats why there keep it by nerf it more.

was it wrong that halo infinite has become available for the PC yes.
was it wrong that it has a crossplay system yes.

Halo trying to “innovate” is the main reason every 343i Halo game has struggled to recapture the popularity Bungie had with Halo. We don’t need Halo to innovate, we need it to just be Halo with the same type of beefy content they had 15 years ago. A “modern” Halo game that’s supposed to be a “live service” has less content than a Halo game that’s nearly 2 decades old.

Oh please. CoD’s entire community is on controller and it has no problem maintaining a higher player count than Halo infinite on versions that 3 games behind the most current one.

MnK players are fine in Halo. Aim assist is strong, but controller players can’t do 180’s at the speed of light and make fast snaps like a MnK can. Ranked also has the option to specify which input you want to play with in solo/duo. If you don’t want to play controller players then go play that mode. Who friggan cares about the differences in social playlists.

We don’t need to do anything because input types are not the problem with Halo. And I dunno what weird universe you live in, but we are not in a new era largely populated by PC. Consoles still outnumber PC gaming by an extremely large margin.

The Answer is simple
Remove platform based crossplay

Or at the very least allow us to opt out of it
That way
PC can play PC
Console can play Console
And no one is -Yoink!- in eachothers cornflakes

This wouldn’t work considering the large majority of pc players use controller since it is so dominant.

I mean input crossplay still exists right?..
PC vs PC
Console vs Concole
Console controller vs Console controller
Console M&K vs Console M&K
PC controller vs PC controller
PC M&K vs PC M&K

voila
