Controller Players are playing in the Mouse and Keyboard Playlists

While queueing in the solo/duo mouse and keyboard ranked playlist, it appears that controllers are sneaking their way into the playlist as well. This is unfortunate considering controller has an extreme advantage over mouse and keyboard with the amount of reticle friction and bullet magnetism provided. Can we investigate fully blocking controller players from this playlist?

It’s already on the Dev’s to do list.

It’s funny that you say that because PC 180 FPS kids are playing in my matches with controller. And I’m over here at 60 FPS with my Xbox and controller. I’m just praying to the gods that I don’t get into a game with the pc wall hackers.

Are you sure?

I tried it and cannot queue in the M&K Playlist. It says: Wrong input type.

First I’ve heard of this issue. Is it because PC players can enter the M&K ranked playlist, but can or already have their controller plugged in so they can simply change input once in the game?

This is the fist I’m hearing of this too. I have queued into it on accident with my controller plugged in and I’m not able to move or use the controller at all.

As far as I know, Halo Infinite only tells you what input a player is using, not their console, not their FPS.

Are you asking the opposing team what their monitor refresh rates are then coming to this conclusion or just assuming it’s the case and winding yourself up into a frenzy?

FYI M&K and Controller have the exact same bullet magnetism. M&K doesn’t have reticle friction. But here on console, the aim assist is really, really, really bad. I heard controller on PC is good, but here on Console it is the absolute worst. I have never played a FPS game in the past 12 years with such insanely low aim assist.

Guess you never played Siege on console, where the aim assist is literally nonexistent lol

Nope. Never played that. :slightly_smiling_face: Thanks for the heads up.

Really dude you need to take some time to mess with your settings to get it right for you. The default in this game is unusable.

Each gun also triggers aim assist at certain ranges. The sidekick at long range has no AA for example, whereas the BR at long range is laser accurate. It’s getting used to using the guns at the range 343 wants you to use them.

Surely you’re not having issues with the AR? That thing has a load of aim assist at all ranges.

The AR is super easy to use. The Sidekick feels really wonky most of the time. As if it has no aim assist, even at short ranges. And the next moment I’m getting headshots from long ranges. It feels really weird. The BR feels great some games and crap other games. That my reticle is on his head, and it just doesn’t register. My ping is great though.

Is there a list somewhere of all the optimal ranges for all the weapons?

Apparently there’s a way to launch the game with KBM, and while in the loading screen plug the controller back in. Seems more like a glitch that folks are taking advantage of.

Yeah definitely have seen the disparity between controller AA on console vs PC. Seems non-existent on console, yet completely dominant on PC. I’m sure tunings are in the works!

I believe it gives you the red reticle once you’re in optimal range. I’m not sure I’ve just played a lot and sort of eye ball it.

Do they have a public list of their prioritization? Would love to get eyes on that to see what it’s in the pipeline.

There already are wall hackers with the tools we have available on console. The days of console being a utopia where cheating wasn’t possible have been gone for at least 5 years. Not going to name tools so more people become aware of them and use them but I can think of at least 3 different tools that allow for you to slightly increase accuracy so as to not raise suspicion or to basically turn yourself into an aimbot. Pretty sure wall hacks are available with one of those tools.

Only 5 years? They were prevalent in Halo 3 onwards (at least) - any console with a USB was susceptible to the tools.

No. They mentioned it on stream briefly.

If thats happening. Then its most likely the same bug thats has AA dropping off of controller and seeing it as a MNK. If thats whats happening then you are probably up against controllers on PC but with no aim assist. It still should not be happening, but their aim will suffer for it id think.
