Controller Layouts / Customization

One thing I was very disappointed in (and it may seem like a small issue to others, but it was big to me) was the inability to define custom controller layouts. In my opinion, I should be able to map whatever button I want to whatever action I want.

In addition, I wished that certain controller features operated differently:

  1. I would like to be able to adjust vertical sensitivity separately.

  2. Rather than have sensitivity be just a scalar multiplier, I would like to see the max always stay the same - so that if you bury the stick, your view changes at the same rate regardless of your sensitivity setting. The sensitivity setting adjusts the rate of ramp to the maximum, but does not change the maximum.

  3. I would like an option to set either toggle or hold for AAs, zoom, and sprint (if AAs and/or sprint remain), just like you can for crouch.

What about the rest of you?

I see no reason why not to. Keep the default layouts available for people that like them or are too lazy to map, then give us the option to map whatever we want.

Yes, I have always wanted fully customizable controls.

This is next gen tech. Not only that, We are getting a new engine as well.

There are absolutely ZERO excuses for not having full control over your controls.

Also; Keyboard and Mouse support please. K Thx Bai.

Heh… I asked this some months ago and everybody say -Yoink- NO!.. sigh

I would love custom button mapping, but like everything else that is customizable I would probably end up changing it once per week. I’m not sure what button I would map the crouch function to. If I put it on LS I could ghandi-hop and incorporate crouching into my strafe, whereas if I put it on B I could easily spring jump.

I’ve never thought of this, but I’m sure it would be a great addition.

Hell no! That would end me. My sticks are always buried. I would have to resort to Titanfall or Destiny ick! Okay Destiny wouldn’t be that bad but I don’t think it has versus multiplayer, and even if it does it’s class based.

Yeah okay, but there is no reason to choose toggle/hold for zoom because it does both by default.

I think the ability to select a different sensitivity for each weapon would be quite useful. It would make it so you could switch between Grifball and Snipers without adjusting your sens. Thoughts?

Awww… I was gonna make a thread on this xD

I moved myself into social offside because I cannot play BF3 with my friends.
I’m too used to the Halo 4 controls - but I really like them. Not the default one. I guess I’m using “scout” or whatever.

So what I’m trying to say: Let’s try to talk other games into offering Halo options :F

I’ve been paying a bit more attention to my sticks lately and I don’t entirely know what I was saying before, but having the ability to adjust both the acceleration and max speed of the sensitivity would be of great benefit.

I see no reason to not have a fully customizable controller. I don’t see how anyone could be opposed to this idea too.

Yeah, not sure why people would have poo-poo’d Dalek’s thread.

No . . . I would not like that at all. Halo 4 may be my first console shooter, but it ain’t my first shooter overall. And even a mediocre player with a keyboard/mouse would beat just about anyone with a controller. The mediocre player would never miss a shot.

Just let me keep using the Recon setup. That’s all I ask.

Done.

At least, if I could make the decision, it would be done . . .

Customisable - yes. Default settings changing yet again between the various halos - no.
As much as I enjoy all the halos, the default settings change between the games, and in some cases it simply isn’t possible to force the default setting from one game onto the next.

Well if there was customizable button layouts you could pick which ever Halo button layout you enjoyed.
