Controller exposed - Video

I legitimately did not know that PUBG has no aim assist on console. That’s pretty intense actually, I hadn’t heard of any console games doing that before.

Neither did I. That sounds crazy.

It is a now free to play game, try it out. They have all kinds of training modes to help with your aim and recoil control. PUBG really separates the casuals from skilled.

I use to watch a lot of WackyJack because of his knowledge with PUBG. The recoil on Xbox and PC are not the same, it is toned down on console but everything else is one for one. As PUBG corp. mentioned, PUBG is a direct port from PC to console with console having 50% recoil deduction.

This is a clip from a tournament I was in. If you slow the clip down to .25 when I snipe the guy out of the car, you can see how I had to lead the shot and you can also see the actual bullet…

Wait, isn’t PUBG one of the most played Xbox games since it’s now F2P? Pretty sure it is. That would make it a success, on Xbox, with no AA, and with crossplay… so much for controller not being viable without AA lol

I think so but it’s not crossplay with PC, just Xbox, PS and Stadia.

Ah, gotcha. Though, what’s to stop someone from using M&K on Xbox? Wonder if it supports that. If I had an Xbox I’d test it lol.

Console would not stand a chance playing against PC and PUBG corp mentioned that they will never cross plat the two.

KBM is not supported on Xbox with PUBG but people have been busted for using 3rd party hardware to use KBM. In the tournaments I was in, I was accused of using one but that got debunked real quick. PUBG has a lot of dev support to help out the community. They even listen to the community and communicate with the community, even personally.

This was all done without aim assist…

Just a little side note, the blue blood is a colorblind setting. I liked using it because I could tell if I was making hits at distance.

Watching that, it really makes me think AA/bullet mag is just stronger in Infinite than is necessarily required. Obviously not advocating for its complete removal, especially given PC/Xbox crossplay, but yeah, that pretty definitively pushes me to say the fears of getting stomped by PC players if the AA/magnetism is lightly tweaked are unfounded.

That doesn’t mean people turn aim assist off in their settings.

What about casuals on m&k who feel like they can’t compete with casuals on controller? Maybe aim assist for m&k?

Not sure what it is you’re referring to but, there is no option to use aim assist in PUBG. There is zero assistance in PUBG, none at all.

No, I do not want aim assist with KBM. I want my mouse to work exactly how it’s supposed to work. The screen moves with your mouse, I don’t want my screen to move with my mouse and then the screen to slow down on target while my mouse is still moving at the same speed. That would mess KBM users up more than it would help.

There’s probably none left at this stage!

I see. They were talking about pubg mobile then.

I still don’t see the relevance though. Changing a core game mechanic just to “widen the skill gap” doesn’t seem right. Halo’s supposed to be a fun game at the end of the day.

Pubg appeals to a more hardcore audience than Halo does.

Ah ok. PUBG mobile is totally different, actually made by Tencent and yeah, they use aim assist because it was originally made for on screen controls.

I get that, I never said Halo doesn’t need aim assist but for the ones to say any console shooter needs aim assist is not accurate.

Of course. Not every console shooter needs a ton of aim assist if the core gaming mechanics are enough to provide a consistent and fun experience.

So far, Infinite’s aim feels like a chore. It’s not smooth like MCC’s. Which isn’t to say that’s because of the aim assist.

The whole system needs a rework. Not just the aim assist.

I think that’s probably due to DRS running hard, causing minute hitching. Infinite heavily relies on DRS to maintain framerate, especially on Xbox, and so there may be minute hitches as the game detects the slipping perf and the need adjust framerate. At least, if you’re talking about aim feeling “stuttery” or “catchy”. Admittedly, playing on PC with an Elite Series 2, the only thing I found difficult to learn about the aiming was the acceleration. It can be kind of 0-100 real quick at default settings in my experience.

I hate it, I hate any kind of acceleration and I don’t think you can turn it off in Halo? I remember I tried turning it all the way down but it still kicks in. Another plus for PUBG, they allow you to completely turn it off.
