Controller Default (Couch on B WTF?)

I want to know how people are feeling about the new controller schemes specifically about the having crouch on a button instead of having it at L3(default). This makes it impossible to crouch shoot effectively as I now have to switch between aiming and covering with my right thumb.

I have tried using the other layouts but many of them run into the same problem of misusing the right thumb in order to accommodate an action that still requires aim. ex: having your armor ability on a YXAB button makes it impossible to shoot while jet-packing.

Personally I would love to be able to fully customize my controller to fit my own play. Failing that, the Recon scheme would be perfect as a new Default if the melee and action buttons switched. That way the overall layout stays the same as what players know as default from previous games (Action on B/Melee on R-Bumper) while only changing the switching of grenades to the D-pad (much more intuitive) from the X-button to accommodate the use of full-time sprint.

While still enjoyable and playable this to me is a BIG oversight in development when coming to intuitive play and I hope can be fixed in a Patch soon. Anyone else have thoughts on the subject?

Wouldn’t putting your couch on the B button break it

yeah i’ve used recon for awhile now but i immediately switched after my first game in halo 4 cause, what is it sprint on x or something? i changed to default and now the crouch on b is a bit of a problem but not as big of a deal, so i can live with it. I would prefer if we could make our own custom schemes though.

Seriously, how often do you crouch in Halo? Also, sprint on X is weirder. B crouch is normal for many games.

At least 68 times a game. At least.

Repeated crouching is a common practice to avoid headshots in multiplayer.

I would prefer it if crouch and zoom were switched, that would also solve the clench problem.

I noticed that and set it to Recon. Didn’t last long considering sprint was X. Just feels weird overall.

I’m still not used to pressing RB for melee and X for reload.

I don’t know about you, but I keep my couch in the living room.

I use Bumper Jumper. Works great for most usage, but it makes jetpacking and aiming almost impossible (unless you claw), and significantly reduces the effectiveness of Hardlight Shield.
I have a Razer Onza controller, which would work brilliantly, except it’s broken. Those things were an awesome idea, but they break too easily.

I love how because now Default has Sprint on X or B or whatever it is, it’s a huge problem. AAs have been on X since Reach for Bumper Jumper, plus a few others. I have never used jet pack (mostly because it is a stupid AA, but the buttons are problematic as well). Sprint on ABX or Y is not a problem because you only have to tap the button to engage sprint. You do not need to hold it.

Also, a simple solution to the AA problem - don’t use Jet Pack. It will make your experience better, and it will make everyone else’s experience better if no one uses jet pack.
