Controller configuration: Recon

There is a a few problems with the configuration that will be a small hindrance in the game, I’m a halo: 3 starter, so I’ve gotten used to the Recon controls over the games, since sprint is its own innate ability, they had to add that which means changing up the controller configations, at the moment everything is the same except, Rb is to reload/action, x is to sprint and d-pad is to switch grenades.

This is only a small problem, but when you are holding x to sprint, how are you meant to look around? Your thumb is occupied so while you’re sprinting you can’t really control yourself, wouldn’t it be simpler to have sprint on Rb and reload on X? that way it is symmetrical with your armor ability and leaves your thumbs free incase someone jumps you and you have to turn quickly.

Again, just a small hinderance and something I will probably get used to, but how do you guys feel about the controller configuation? Agree, Disagree? Personally I think we should be able to customise them, but ohwell.

Incase you were unaware of the controller configurations, here’s a few images for you in the link below.

Controller configurations

I don’t see the big problem in it, it’s just tap X to sprint I believe, not hold it.

Yep, not a big problem, just my own personal thoughts on the controls, I mainly want to see other peoples thoughts on the controls and how you guys will play.

It is not much of a problem, but I would prefer to have Sprint on RB and Action/Reload on X. Just looks more logical to me.

Look at it this way, You’ve always reloaded from same button, isn’t it only logical to keep it? I personally use Recon and I wouldn’t mind if they’d switch reload and sprint, but then again I don’t mind if they won’t switch it haha.

If you use the claw grip, you have nothing to be worried about, and plus, I don’t think you have to hold down sprint.

I actually did have this exact suggestion some time back. Definitely agreed.

I’ll likely just get used to tapping X, but having RB sprint and X action/reload is more sensible. I don’t care if Halo 3 was like that. Quality over sentimentalism if you ask me.

KSI? Well hello, old brother.

I don’t understand why a custom configuration option hasn’t been implemented. That way players could assign each action to whichever button they wanted.

I prefer having Sprint on X, I never use that button and I never use Sprint…

Yep, the clans still going, had some problems with hackers recently who are so immature and rather sad that they will go to all the fuss of hacking an account just to look like a big man or for some dead reason like ‘your our rival clan, lol xd hack’

Unsurprisingly, they are 12 year olds, but its not really a problem anymore.

Yep, it wouldn’t be that difficult to just have a custom configuration, on PC custom controls are pretty much the default, but I like recon, noone can tell me that B doesn’t melee

Yep, I played at Eurogamer and it felt good! You only need to tap X to sprint, not hold.

Also, it’s not like its a lot of effort to move your thumb half an inch over to the X button at any given time :stuck_out_tongue:

I will personally stick with default however, as I have gotten too use to RB as pummel.

I have always played Recon but i think i might have to give default a go. Looks like a better layout if i could only just get used to it.

I was a Default player, but with Sprint moving to a face button, I’m trying to get used to Bumper Jumper. May as well have useful buttons on the shoulders (and crouch on B is a big loss when crouch-jumping/strafing).

seriously i used it for like 2 hours at eurogamer, when i came home i started to play reach with it, i got used to it so quickly it really doesnt matter

So you never reload and/or pick up weapons?
