Controller Button Lag

Anyone else experience controller button lag? Sometimes when I try to sprint I get no results of a delayed sprint. Sometimes when I try to melee it’s delayed. I am forced to double tap sprint sometimes

It’s even to the point where I have hit sprint and a good second or so passes and my character starts sprinting.

Yea a few days ago I was getting the same thing but game play wasn’t being effected only things that were lagging was sprinting, melee, and thruster pack.

Try plugging in your controller to reduce the lag, or get your controller and/or Xbox checked out.

Yes, plugin your controller. Pluging your controller in shuts of the wireless part that is giving you the lag. It’s small but you should notice a difference, should… Not saying you will but i noticed.

I only play with it plugged in, so that can’t be the issues. Maybe it’s because my controller is old, it is a Day 1 controller

I’ve noticed an issue, using an Elite.
It exaggerates the frustration of the aerial melee pause because that one is intentional. That the game won’t confirm I’ve tapped Y or 'nade is completely messes up any combat cadence.

It’s a hard one to explain because when doing nothing but testing buttons, things seem OK. But in the heat of battle, inputs feel as sluggish as navigating the Warzone menu, which is all over the place as far as frame-rate smoothness and recognition.
I find myself all too often feeling like I’ve executed button combos for expected results, ie, throw 'nade, tap Y, melee, zoom fire, but find that swapping weapons or meleeing just don’t happen.

And as said, the melee pause in the air just exaggerates the issue because if I jump and toss out a melee in that combo and I haven’t swapped weapons or melee’d, the anger just completely gets into my gaming!!!

I know I need more time to get accustom to things specifically in Halo5 but my experience with Halo and games in general has me feeling like things just aren’t as smooth as could be.

I’ve noticed the sprint one too. Many times in the heat of combat I find myself walking casually to my enemy to shoulder charge them, but instead beach slap them and then I die.

Being in the heat of battle implies you’re engaged head on there is damage being taken. You can’t enter sprint when taking damage. You have to achieve sprint before being able to take hits and maintain it.

If you were saying the sticks were loose that would be one thing but the buttons shouldn’t have a delayed input as a result of age.

maybe its server lag

Never heard of controller button lag. Probably a myth like lag comp and hit detection.

Yea I get the same issue with meleeing.

The only thing I have noticed is a melee lag when using the Helljumper control scheme, something about it being on left stick delays the melee sometime. I run an Elite controller with it hardwired to the console.

Problem solved. All 4 day ones I had have had problems, I’ve replaced all 4 now.

I played halo 5 all day yesterday and noticed sprint button lag. I had to keep mashing the sprint button before it would work. Kind of annoying when I base my plays off how it worked a few days ago which was fine. I even tried another controller and it was no different. I’m not sure if it was because of the social and gaming issues on xbox live yesterday or if maybe an update made it worse. I’m going to try free for all and see if it got better.

I’ve been searching the forum to see if anyone else has had this problem and it seems some people do.

Day 1 controller has to have wear on it

Yeah, I play with Recon controls and I’ve found maybe 15-20 times in over 400 matches I’ve been unable to sprint for a few seconds when I need to get away quickly. Very annoying. Even with a gen 2 controller that is plugged in. It’s not a huge deal but I definitely know what you’re talking about sprint wise.

The last time i played was on the 24th to the 25th till 9am and I guess there was an update when I hopped on. Everything seemed good until yesterday the 27th when I got on again.

I use recon and every game I was button mashing to get sprint to work which isn’t normal.

From doing some research it looks like there was a controller update on the 24th. Someone had a firmware 1.0 controlled that worked fine and another newer one that prompted an update or was updated and had button lag issues.

I’m going to go over my controllers and see if they need updating or if I have a day one controller that works better.

I’ve noticed sometimes it feels like I have to press LT multiple times to throw a nade.
