So my only 360 controller I have broke yesterday (That I’ve had for four years), and it’s too the point now the only game that I can play with it broken is Gears. So I need a new one. But I’m a little low on cash right now, so do you guys know a good brand/controller I could get that is a little cheaper than the Microsoft controller? One that is of good quality. Or should I just try and use my broken Microsoft controller until I have the cash to get another microsoft one. (I don’t care if it’s wired or not, just want one that’s of good quality and reliable not to break)
Thanks for your help!
How its broke. The Right joystick is hard to move and gets stuck. So it’s difficult to aim and if I don’t move the joystick back centered after moving it somewhere it gets stuck. Forcing my characters to spin in circles. This will sometime happen even if I don’t move the joystick to the side. It’ll lean over by its self. Also as of this morning I couldn’t play Halo with it because everytime I fire my weapon my controller thinks I’ve also clicked the right stick. So now every time I fire it zooms me in/out as well. So now when I get into firefights my screen looks like its having a seizure and it is literally impossible to aim with it doing that. And it’s EVERYTIME I press that trigger now.
This may not help you but I would suggest not getting a cheaper controller than the original one. I would suggest maybe getting one used or refurbished. I have found that the cheaper ones aren’t worth anything and you end up just wasting more money in the end.
Thanks, yeah I was kinda figuring that they would be a waste of money too. That’s why I had hoped someone knew a good brand other than Microsoft that’d be a bit cheaper but still good… By the time I have the money to get a Microsoft controller I’ll be out of live. I don’t really know if I’d like to go with a used or refurbished because they’ve been used and more likely have less life on them sometimes a little worn out. With a refurbished that kinda tells me something was wrong with it before and it’s likely to have something else break. I don’t know…
I suggest you get a Razer Controller, they’re about $60, but they’re very nice, and don’t wear out as quick, unless your skin/sweat eats rubber like me. :\
Madcatz is a decent one. I think one of their wired controller glitch on me but that’s the only problem I have. To be on the safe side though, I would go with the Microsoft controller.
Microsoft controller.
If you are looking to save money get them refurbished save 10 or 15 bucks instead of the full 60…
Thanks guys, I don’t know I’ll try and figure something out. I’ll probably end up getting a Microsoft controller. Thanks for the help!
Get the Mad Catz MLG Controller and it will be the last controller you ever need to buy.
Every single part is replaceable and customizable. High quality. Best controller I’ve ever used.

Better than the Razer Onza? I was going to buy that one but hesitated not sure why. I would like to start Halo 4 with a better controller.
The Razer has two programmable buttons that let you put the buttons in 2nd bumper locations, this would help create a very nice set up for H4’s more defaultish controls.
It could make all the difference in adapting to H4’s new style of play.
Personally I would put LS on RB2 and RS on LB2. Remember that holding the zoom will let you unzoom when you let go, rather than toggle. And that with BG, last I checked, you could have the AA as the trigger, the jump button as LB1 and the zoom button as LB2.
Duck would be RB2 with melee on RB1 and of course fire on RT.
That’s actually quite a great mobility+offensive setup.
I know I’m against grenades not being on LT, but if you’re more into mobility and want games that don’t spam grenades, that input position would be a very underused option.
… Just saying

Hmm…I guess what i am looking for is a controller with stiffer analog sticks the default MS controller is way to loose for my liking. Do you know if the MLG controller is adjustable? I believe the Razor one is.
Amazon.com sells the microsoft controllers wired and wireless ones for dirt cheap. You can get like a wired one for $30 on there sometimes.
It beats buying an off brand only to find out they don’t work well for FPS games. I am a bit of a controller collector for the 360. I have everything from the $20 gamestop controllers, razer onza’s, MLG controllers and beyond. So far I find the regular Microsoft ones to be the best.

Mine didn’t seem to last long. A few weeks in my character in games wouldn’t walk forward. Same issue the two Razer Onza’s I had did to me. I still have my 4 year old regular wired controller that I wore and tore in halo 3 playing it day in and out and it still works. If MLG can’t make a competent working controller then I have no hope for future 3rd party controllers.
The last hope I see is a new controller coming out later this year called the Fus1on. It looks promising but we’ll see.
If you don’t mind using a batman themed wired controller, then you should take a look at this:
