People seem to be concerned about the default control setup, and so am i, but im sure they’ll have something which suits me in the alternative setups. either way, putting crouch on B is a mistake, it would kill crouch jumping, something i find symbolic of halo. (sounds stupid, but hey, i play a lot of jump maps. and generally i feel and more “in control” when crouch is on the left thumbstick. i can’t explain it, but hopefully some of you understand.)
put sprint on X, i had no problem with that using bumper jumper in reach. put swap grenades on the d-pad. and put action/reload on B. keep everything else how it is on the default reach setup and we’re good. the only problem is if you want to play bumper jumper, the armor ability would go on A, which is less than ideal for jetpackers, but hey, we had to deal with that in reach as well.
honestly the control setup is the least of my concerns, i’m almost 100% sure the setup i just described will be an option in halo 4, it would be dumb not to have that in. i’d be much more comfortable with it anyway.
there are much more damaging things in halo 4, like the possible death of the competitive scene in halo. because once that dies, halo dies. it will just become one of those games you pick up to play for a week then never touch until it’s sequel comes out.
sprint left stick
crouch right
b change nades
> sprint left stick
> crouch right
> b change nades
Then how do you zoom?
just because 1-50 is out does not mean that there wont be a competitive ranking system
> sprint left stick
> crouch right
> b change nades
i dont think so because zoom has always been on one of the sticks
> just because 1-50 is out does not mean that there wont be a competitive ranking system
which is why i say possible death, i cant think of a system that does not support boosting or selling accounts without becoming another arena. i hope they can think of something good, but i dont see it happening.
I like Recon Reach and Halo 3 default. There has to be something like that in Halo 4… I hate the new setup for default Halo 4 controls. :l

1-50 did have flaws but it was a very competitive system that bought people back to the game for more. Whatever they decide to do with the ranks i hope it can live up to 1-50

If there is an ordnance drop perk, it will use up the d pad
we do not know if we can call in ordances. even if everyone knows where it is at. you have the right idea
> we do not know if we can call in ordances. even if everyone knows where it is at. you have the right idea
i heard that you could call in personal ordances is certain gametypes but my info might not be relieable
Most likely not but then again we have to wait for more info in how these drop pods come down.
I don’t care too much about the default scheme. As long as there’s a setup where zoom is the left trigger, I’m happy
i hope they have something similar to the halo 3 controls
I personally want the Reach scheme with sprint on LS, crouch on B and left/right on the d-pad for grenades. That way you’ve got access to all main movement and combat buttons and functions without having to move your thumbs ( I count jump and crouch as secondary).
A-Jump
B-Crouch
X-Reload/Use
Y-Switch weapons
RB-Melee
RT-Shoot
LB-AAs
LT-Grenades
Left Stick-Sprint
Right Stick-Zoom
Up, Left, Right on D-pad-Ordinance Drops
Down on D-pad-Switch Grenades(?)
If these are the default controls, it will take some getting used to but it doesn’t sound too bad.
LT-throw grenade
RB-sprint
Left Stick-movement/crouch
RT-shoot
LB-AA
Right Stick-camera movement/zoom
A-jump
B-melee
X-reload/action
Y-Switch weapon
Dpad left-grenade switch
Dpad Right-flashlight
Back-score
That should be the default layout.
I’m very concerned with how the bumper jumper layout will be. Very concerned.
