One of the things I liked about Reach was the fact that you had your four combat pillars on the shoulder buttons. It made combat a lot easier when you didn’t have to take your hands off of the sticks to melee or use an AA.
So, I hope they keep the Reach scheme for general combat as far as possible, and assuming that Dual-weilding returns it could then shift over to a Halo 3-style scheme.
Sound like a good idea? I couldn’t find the wishlist thread.
So you mean you want your control layout to change when you dual wield? I would not want that at all.
> So you mean you want your control layout to change when you dual wield? I would not want that at all.
To be honest, I just want melee to stay on the shoulder buttons. If they can find a way to make it all work then I’m for it.

I think they should just give us completely customizable controls so that we can all choose the layout that suits us best.

True. We’ve been trying to get that for years though. Hasn’t happened yet, unless you count Halo PC.
For I, if dualing, default:
X=reload left
B=reload right, hold to jack/action
RB=melee
LB=jump (though needs physical testing to see with the new game-play, that’s how I’d actually like it, A and LB can swap if it doesn’t feel right. Partial customs could allow it without forcing either).
RT=fire right
LT= throw grenade/fire left
up-d=NV
left-d=grenade A
right-d=grenade B
down-d=toggle LB. Evade to add-on
A=Evade-default/combat add-on
Y= swap weapon. If dualing, hold Y to toggle between holding your left weapon up. Allows 3 weapons to be carried if a pair a single-handed.
Spawn with 1 Pistol that can be kept until tossed, while a left hand can be optioned to be toggled by Y three times, or hold Y to toggle dualing.
If you toss 1 of your dual-able weapons for a 2-handed weapon, you toss both duals. If you melee, you don’t toss your left hand.
If you want to toss 'nades while dualing, you must told Y to side the weapon, not drop it, so that you may do so. You can now run with 3 weapons, but only toggle 1 at a time.
I feel duals should not receive a debuff on their damage due to be dualed.
ie: what would make the PR a better alternative to the AR is though because it damages shields more than health and because they’re slower moving projectiles than the AR, the PR maintains its AR-like status (not SMG) and can be dualed. It’s not like the player can carry 3 weapons if they are using the PR as a shield dropper and another weapon as the killer. From this line of thinking, the PR can be a CQB-melee king but not so effective at short range, least alone mid. BUT if the PR is now combined with another weapon, something the AR can’t do, the PR is now something to want to create a CQB to mid-range dualing combo that can compete against but still be beat by a rifle or shotgun.

My thinking is; new developer, better chance. 343 have shown us that they do listen so I’m really hoping they’ll listen to all the demand for customizable controls.
RT=Fire Weapon
RB=Melee
LT=Grenade/FireLeft
LB=Jump
A=Change Grenade Type
B=Pick Up Weapons/Equipment
X=Use Equipment
Y=Change Weapon
It was perfect in Halo 3.
I preferred Walkie Talkie, you appear to like Bumper Jumper in Halo3.
As long as it’s understood the intent was to show off preference and not make it believe that BJ was default… though the naming implies it.
Fully customizable controls please.
I dont think BJ should be default, it might be a turn off for some poeple.
But I really want a BJ in Halo 4, since it doesnt require you to move your tumbs off your analog sticks to jump.
But the problem is if there are AAs in Halo 4. JetPack and BJ doesnt work well together.
I would like to see a scheme where you zoom with the LT.

And for those of us that would prefer equipment to have a bumber button?
Button mapping. I’m just throwing it out there.

We know, we know. I’ve just given up all hope of getting it, to be honest.

On PC for Halo CE I always felt special for have a unique control sheme. We have to throw the idea out there more for it to happen.
