Context sensitive smart link

I didnt start this topic to debate about whether or not smart link should return. But if it does return I’d like to see it be context sensitive. Half pull or less on the trigger will turn on the stabilizer jets but not zoom you into the weapons scope view. Full pull on the trigger would be business as usual.

Question is:
How would this translate to other control schemes?
Personally I use Bumper Jumper which means my stick clicks to zoom.

I think the idea in concept is cool but the implementation of it would be messy. Not sure how much use you’d really get out of a half zoom without stabilisers either

you would also have to consider this for PC where half-pressing something is not a thing (one of the reasons you could not crouch while moving for awhile in MCC giving you were always running as max speed and crouch was tied to that in the bungie titles). Really, if its there I could only see it existing for certain weapons. I don’t think contextualization will come from the control scheme

theres literally a setting where you click the sprint button while ads to smart link

Maybe bind the thrusters to holding down the jump button while in mid-air? But it would still be awkward to use in some control schemes.

And what if you use a different control system? One that isn’t copied from a modern twitch shooter and is, you know? Actually decent and a lot more useful in an arena shooter? Because in that case aiming certainly wouldn’t be on a trigger mate! And in your reinterpretation of smart link wouldn’t work to begin with sadly. Not to mention k+m users would be kinda screwed as well. But I said sadly, because I agree that aiming and stabilising shouldn’t be tied together.

Than again, I don’t think it matters too much, stabilisers most probably will get cut in Hi together with spartan charge and ground pound after all. This three are the most criticised functions in H5 after all and I doubt 343i wants to hear about the hate-bandwagon from us old school fans again! X’D

If it comes back though yes, lets put it onto a new button please. Forcing stabilisers/ADS on a trigger however in what is supposed to be an arena shooter - in which you also lose your sight when being shot at mind you - is not the right way to go. Maybe double tap the jump button (unless there is a double jump or jet-pack function, but I hope I’m not giving the devs some terrible ideas here) or activate it by using the sprint button while in the air. Still, I wouldn’t be sad if it really gets cut. It#s fun to use for trick-jumps, but let’s be real here for a second: in actual combat stabiliser are fairly useless. :stuck_out_tongue:

That is a cool idea, I would like to stabilize without zooming in, especially while using weapons like rockets, shotgun, etc.
