Context sensitive boost

This post is strictly for a discussion on context sensitive boost only. If you like the idea I’m interested in seeing your ideas on what could be done if implemented in the upcominghalo title. What follows is my ideas if the feature was implemented. This all boils down to the fact that that we’ve been rocking controllers with the same number of buttons for decades. Which in my opinion needs to be fixed because its starting to limit our games.
The more I play halo 5 the more I wish they would have put the boost on the left trigger and just figured something else out with the smart link.
Lightly press the trigger you boost a little. Hold it down you boost a lot. Implimenting a boost meter to regulate how much you use would balance this system out (more on this in a moment). This would make fun battles less predictable. By putting it on the trigger you would also have the option of combing it with other buttons. For instance you may be able to boost straight up in an arc if you boost with the jump button. Combining this with smart link at the apec of the boost jump you could get an effect similar to the old reach jump pacs…and I do mean similar but not the same. Hitting the crouch button while TAPPING boost could cause you to do a combat roll again like the old reach ability. Imagine sprinting into a slide only to roll out of that in another direction. You would be a true spartan then. All of this would be regulate by a boost meter measuring say 100 units. Let’s say there are 3 levels of boost. A full boost, half trigger pull and a tap. Each using various levels of boost. Maybe a full boost uses 80 units and a half uses 55 units. So you can do a half boost and only require a very brief recharge before you can do another half but if you do a full boost the recharge time is longer before you have enough in the meter to pull off a half boost and even longer for another full. Haven’t fully worked out how a tap would come into play here.
If you like the idea I would like to hear what other things you would add to this system

I think controllers should just come with extra shoulder buttons like the razer wolverine and paddles on the back.

I play using Recon controls. That’s the way the Halo’s control scheme was refined in Halo 3, and I’ve seen no logical improvement since then. Recon is how Halo should be played IMO. When using Recon controls, you zoom in using the thumbstick, not the trigger. And my thoughts concerning Smart-Scope? It has no place in Halo. Eliminate it altogether.
