Since this game is going to be separated from one season to the next, especially going forward, it made me wonder exactly how 343 intends to move forward separating or mixing the content. I imagine it would be difficult to keep with the promise of committing to not having FOMO in the game, and with each subsequent season, it would be very difficult to stay true to that promise. Still, there is a potential idea that they could implement that would not only benefit users who were there from the start, but also those who either left early, or started later.
The Season Toggle is the idea that I had in mind, and I’ll explain how it would theoretically work. Since a player is able to have access to a season pass indefinitely after purchasing it, that should mean that the content from that season would also be equally accessible via a toggle. Let me explain. Everything from that season, the weekly rewards, the event passes, the contents in the store, all of that would be relegated to a tabbed section in the game, and affect progress only to that season. So if there is a set of weekly challenges for that one season, none of it would carry over to another season’s content, as it would have its own challenges and rewards to follow. Same for the store as its all compartmentalized, barring maybe certain event playlists.
Did you miss a weekly reward that you would love to have a second chance at getting? In a new season, or if enough time passes, the reward may eventually cycle back in. Worried that some store items may get mixed into the new season, well, you have the best of both worlds so 343 can focus on putting those store items in their own season sections. Maybe there was an event pass you have yet to complete? Well, you can always come back and take another crack at it.
The only caveat in this scenario is that the player needs to make sure that when trying to complete a specifically designated season’s content, the player would have to flag the game so that they are actively participating in it. For example, you want to complete Season 2’s content, you wouldn’t be able to complete Season 1 or 3’s challenges simultaneously.
