Recently I heard there was a proposed content drop which has been shelved with new weapons including the Reach plasma launcher and other goodies.
Is it true and what else was in said drop?
No content drop like that coming soon. The next update will fix and re-balance all existing weapons to fit in better with the Halo sandbox and map environments as well as introducing 4K to Xbox One X users.
There was an update that released last year called the Memories of Reach update and it introduced a few reach-based weapons and armours like the grenade launcher the armour form members of noble team. This update released alongside infection for Halo 5.

I am aware of the re balancing and 4k updates due early next month. What I am referring to is a comment made on a very prominent halo YouTuber video stating that a next content drop was on the cards but was eventually shelved. Just putting feelers out there to know more.

Maybe the commenter was implying the Reach update was supposed to bigger? This is the first I’ve heard of this and anyways; YouTube, let alone the comment section, isn’t a very reliable source for anything much. Is it possible we could get a link to this video?
I want to assume the Plasma Launcher was intended to be included as part of Memories of Reach, but I think that along the way, there were issues regarding its design, coding, and rendering. And since there was news about no more new REQs coming out, I can hope that the weapon will return for Halo 6.

Not sure, but it sounds like you might be referring to weapons that were found in the coding. If so, then that isn’t allowed to be discussed here due to it being leaks and stuff.
What we know so far is that the update will contain a few skins, 4K for Halo 5, and some other stuff I’m forgetting. I asked Grim about the plasma launcher and some other weapons and he said that not everything makes it into the game like the Halo 4 Revenant.
I don’t know about the Plasma Launcher, but I know the flag skins are coming November. Maybe that might be a hidden bonus that 343i is throwing at us…
