I can’t find any actual solutions to this, all the “solutions” I’ve seen posted are just dead links.

For anyone on PC, what worked for me was going to
Settings -> Network -> change network to LAN and save, then go back in and change it back to xbox live and save again.

I just wanted to report that I just experienced the same thing. Signing out and signing in again resolved, but can this be looked into? I can only imagine more than a few players running into that error and then giving up on playing MCC entirely because they can’t get the freaking matchmaking to work.

My friend is having the same issue. He’s tried all these “Fixes” and yet, nothing. But all my other friends are connecting just fine! He’s gotten to the point that he’s giving up. Even though it worked fine when it came out on PC and when Halo 3 came out. The next day, it couldn’t connect. We hoped this latest patch would have helped fix it. But no.

I have JUST PURCHASED this game from steam. i cannot find a single game in ANY format, CONTACTING SERVER “Contacting server to get the latest matchmaking data. Please wait.” I have tried literally every fix above and not a single one has worked, im pretty damn pissed i spent $40 on a game i cant play anything but the campaign solo in. Get me a fix before i burn down your buildings After doing research it seems that its MOSTLY all Windows 7 users. ya cant force us to upgrade guys, hell even if i wanted to, which i obviously DONT considering i didnt upgrade when the -Yoink- was free(thats some trash boggy software horrible for gaming), ya’ll made that -Yoink- no longer free. make your -Yoink- work. Sincerely, a pissed off human being.
I am experiencing the same issue. I have tried to sign out and back in, both in game and from the Xbox home screen. Entered a campaign and backed out, twice, and restarted my Xbox several times. I was able to play multiple games earlier today before my matchmaking kept restarting the search and selectimg teams, but never actually starting the game. For the last 30 minutes I have tried to trouble shoot to no avail, I am currently looking at the “Contacting Server” pop up for the last 10 minutes without anything happening. Any suggestions?

Same. I am on Xbox and cannot play. Have tried signing out and everything. No luck. Sad
If you are running into a Connecting Server message in MCC, try the following: Open the Roster -> Click your profile -> Click ‘Change Profile’ This should log you out. Log back in and you should no longer receive the message
