SOLVED:
When attempting to connect to servers, a message comes up reading ‘contacting server to get the latest matchmaking data’ furthermore I am unable to join my friends’ lobby and he couldn’t joined mine. It has been like this since yesterday, I have tried verifying integrity of files etc but it is still bugged. Please help.

changing the DNS code to google as the internet provider did not allow for HALO to be played, I just used the google DNS

Do you have the Relay under Network in your Settings set to “Yes”? It’s suppose to mask your IP from untrusted connections, but it is currently bugged. Try disabling it if you have it enabled, I had this issue yesterday. Otherwise if you’re trying to crossplay with Xbox One, there is none.

It was disabled already, I was trying to join a lobby on steam. Thanks for your help though

I managed to get it working by changing the DNS as my network provider (vodaphone) blocked it’s access, try this GamindoorMatt, I used the Google DNS instead and it works fine

in the preferred DNS server slot put in:
1.1.1.1
which is Googles DNS code, it has been changed since the video,
now you can just press OK close the windows and see if that works

OH MY GOD what a godsend you are TannerFiber, I’ve looked through these forums for hours trying to find a solution and this finally worked. Thank you Tanner you have my eternal thanks. After watching a connecting to server message for 5 hours yesterday and countless hours searching through these forums I can finally play the game

If youre trying to play this on an xbox pixel, go into Settings>Network Settings>Advanced Settings>DNS Settings>Manual and then enter 1.1.1.1 for both primary and secondary. It worked for me, hopefully you can get it to work for you. PC however, Im unsure of what you can do.
I have done what the OP has said, but mine is still not having it. It’s really annoying me, it worked fine on the day of launch. But now it’s not working, it worked after 10pm for some reason. But it’s not working again. And I can’t access this website aswell, I have to use my data to connect to it. When I use a vpn it works fine, but the game says I’m not connected to Xbox live. After it’s gotten my level and everything. I’m playing on steam.

I’m not sure then, before I also could not join this website and had to use my mobile data aswell, so it must be a problem with your network.

Yeah i have done that aswell, my provider is Sky. i saw someone say they was having issue with it aswell. But right now its working and i have done nothing different, it just makes no sense how it can work then not when nothing has been changed haha

I got a update just in case anyone finds this and has the same issue. So basically Sky has a internet protection called Sky shield, this is turn on with the default settings as to have it SFW during the day for the kids. Then NSFW during the night for adults, that’s why the game would work fine after 10pm as it turn to NSFW mode. And for whatever reason halo reach is flagged as NSFW and so is the website. So basically you just need to disable that crap to be able to play. Hopefully this helps someone.
