Ok, I am not happy. I accepted the credit loss in order to go public with waypoint, not knowing what it really ment, and lost a lot of my stuff. I was just dropped from a lt. Col. Grade 3, halfway to commander, all the way down to a captain. I lost my black visor, my Grenadier shoulders, my ua/nxra utility, Grenadier knee pads and anything else I’m “no longer of high enough rank for”. I have worked so hard at this game to rank up, and in offline play, it takes forever to rank up to lt. col. grade 3 and I can not think of a single reason that I had to be kicked back down to captain in order to play online, no reason at all. I have pictures to prove what rank I was and all of my equipment. I would like to be able to contact someone officially in charge of these decisions to get it resolved. This is absolutely unacceptable
I actually just backed out and restarted the game and I’m back to lt col with all my equipment, however it’s still saying I can’t go online without forfeiting 354,000cr and dropping to a captain. Can anyone give a valid reason that you have to lose that much progress, because I can’t thin of one. This is still rediculous.
*side note, they were actually the cqc shoulders, not the grenadier. I’ll still lose them if I chose to go online however
Hey OP, the reason you can’t keep your rank when going offline, is part of the system that Bungie designed to stop players from boosting ranks and credits offline. There’s no fix for it I’m afraid, if you want to play online you have give up a little.
This sucks, all of my stuff has been legitimate gameplay, playing through campaign on harder and harder difficulties, multiplayer matches with my friends, and countless hours in forge building custom maps. Overall, I feel like I’m being punished for not having played online since I started. If I’d had Internet, I would’ve, but I didnt.
I also noticed that my waypoint service record isn’t matching up to my actual gameplay. I’d understand if it was just my kills having just started counting, but it’s not. Waypoint says I’ve only completed the campaign on normal, when I’ve done it on heroic, and am halfway through a legendary playthrough. You can even check my achievements and see I’ve done the heroic playthrough. I’m really starting to consider disconnecting my wifi any time I play reach.
It does suck, but that was Bungie’s decision at the time of making the game to implement things that way. I do understand why they did it that way. Your Waypoint service acts in the same way - if you don’t play online, there’s no way for the service to track your achievements, etc. As soon as you start playing online and have played a match or 2, everything will sync up properly.

Probably would have been better starting a new topic for this, buy the controller itself hasn’t been released yet. The official release date is October 6th as far as I know, so it should hit the stores after that. You can pre-order it online just now. I bought mine a few days ago and it’s just shipped yesterday
