Within Halo, there’s frequent reference to the Brutes, Jackals, Elites, and even the Grunts eating humans. My question is, did any human ever consider turning the tables? Were there any, for example, marines who survived an engagement, were low on food, and decided to try to eat one of his/her fallen foes? In Halo 2, Sergeant Stacker banters about hearing the Elites taste “just like chicken”, but that of course could just be taunting.
Ahhhh this old question! Glad someone brought it back up again.
Its never OFFICIALLY noted, with no canon representation, but I would not be surprised if that was the case in one way or another. After all, if you’re stuck on a backwater colony with no way to get off for months if not years, most of your food is already gone and all you’ve got left is the corpses of the aliens you just killed well…what else are you going to eat?

I would think Jackals are the ones that taste like chicken. Elites probably taste like crocodile/alligator, then again, their blood IS purple so maybe not such a good idea to ingest them.
Seems like a really good way to start spreading some diseases. (o_O )
But, I mean, sure, I bet it happened. People will lick rocks if they’re desperate enough.
I’m sure people would if it came to that point. With the loss of most of the Outer Colonies there would be food shortages, so it’s possible.
I wouldnt be suprised if not.
If the human body is able to get nutrisions out of it,I dont see a reason to not eat them.
I’m pretty sure brutes have eaten humans at some point. Maybe even some jackals have done so.
Jackals look tasty imo.

The Fall of Reach confirms that Jackals do that and another source does it for the Brutes.
Bet chief has had a nibble of a Elite. after killing thousands of em you probably get a bit curious
I can see a nice family barbecue with a jackal leg on the grill happening
Bet Hunters taste like Oodles of Noodles.

Alligator and chicken are surprisingly close in flavor and texture. Alligator is, IMO, is not quite as tough, which is odd considering how much use their tails get.
This is because evolutionarily, birds are quite close to reptiles.
Roasted Yanm’e legs sound quite appetizing…

Not the halo 4 and 5 jackals. Ewwwww. I’d eat the halo 2 jackals any day

Ah I see, my apologies, I honestly can’t remember if I’ve ever eaten crocodile/alligator so I didn’t know that they taste similar.
Hmm, this makes me wonder if Sangheili and Kig-Yar were once the same species eons ago, but diverged either naturally or due to Lifeworker manipulation. My money’s on Lifeworkers.
I think “Mother and Child Reunion”(a Chinese dish) might taste pretty good with a Kig-Yar. This dish typically involves eating the bird alongside it’s eggs. Such as in a soup with broth made from the eggs, or even simply having the egg as a side.
